About O'Hare School of Irish Dance

O'Hare School of Irish Dance, located in Lake Bluff, Illinois, is a distinguished institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the vibrant tradition of Irish dance. Founded by the late Tim O’Hare, a two-time World Champion, the school continues to thrive under the ownership of Veronica Lilja, a World medalist and TCRG, who expanded the school and opened the Lake Bluff studio in 2019. The school boasts a distinguished faculty, including lead teachers Veronica Lilja and Michael Belvitch (ADCRG), a former World Champion who toured with Riverdance, alongside experienced assistant teachers Caitlin Charnow and Maggie McGovern. Our comprehensive program caters to aspiring Irish dancers of all ages and levels, from introductory classes for children as young as four to advanced competitive training. Students progress through traditional soft shoe dances like the Light Jig and Reel, and delve into the complexities of hard shoe dances including the Treble Jig and Hornpipe. The curriculum also incorporates lively Ceili group dances, unique Traditional Set dances, and specialized workshops like the Oireachtas Ceili & Trad Set Workshop and the Oireachtas Solo Workshop, designed to prepare students for major competitions such as the Mid-America Oireachtas, NAIDC, and World Championships. Dedicated adult classes are available, and prospective students are welcome to experience the joy of Irish dance through convenient one-day trial opportunities. O'Hare School of Irish Dance emphasizes the development of strong, resilient children with high self-esteem, cultivating a community of passionate dancers whose alumni impact global stages and uphold the legacy of Irish dance.
