Designed for adults just starting dance, those returning to dance, and seasoned dancers alike, this class incorporates modern dance techniques, yoga, and release techniques to promote healthy moving and freedom of expression. We will explore ways to yield, push, expand, contract, and spiral in the body through floorwork and combinations that develop coordination and musicality, as well as strength and flexibility.

Students will not learn a choreographed dance from the teacher, but instead, they will tap into their independent expression to co-create dances with classmates. Taught by a professional in the field, students will learn choreographic techniques to guide and hone their artistry. Students will have the option to perform in the Annual Gala Dance Concert at Central Park Place on Saturday, April 18th. To be eligible to join this class, students must be enrolled in Creative Modern.

In this creative introduction to modern dance, students will learn fundamental modern dance skills, and tools for creating dances. This 1-hour class emphasizes a growth mindset to help your child build self-esteem as they develop rhythm, coordination and spatial awareness. Students enrolled in this class are eligible to join our ChoreoLAB Youth Performance Group.

With our friendly and imaginative approach to teaching technique, students will learn basic ballet steps at the barre , in the center, and across the floor with ease! This 45-minute class emphasizes a growth mindset to help your child build confidence and self-esteem as they practice gross motor skills, coordination, musicality, and learn ballet terminology.

Using props, stories, and imaginative games, dancers will learn the foundations of dance and master gross motor skills such as marching, balancing, hopping, rolling, and more! This class offers choices to help your child discover independent expression, and encourages cooperation with classmates to create simple dances. Expect for your child to: • Build self-confidence and self-esteem. • Improve strength and coordination • Practice self-regulation skills, and social emotional skills • Increase attention span and self-control • Expand vocabulary to describe their movements
