Classes

Columbia Performing Arts Centre takes pride in offering a wide variety of dance classes each and every year to students beginning at age 2. CPAC has become a second home to over 875 students annually by offering ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and competitive programs.

MiniTroop (Ages 4-5)

Team members train for two hours per week and attend two competitions per year. This is a great way to learn about how competition works with a small time commitment.

Troupe (Ages 6-8)

Team members train for three to four hours per week and attend two competitions per year. Because these dancers are slightly older, they are able to experience a bit more training each week than our MiniTroop. This is a great way to learn about how competition works with a small time commitment.

Ensemble

Dancers selected for this highly coveted and committed team train between 6-20 hours per week with a strong emphasis in ballet training. Ensemble members are required to take ballet and jazz classes weekly (tap is optional but encouraged). They typically attend 4-6 competitions each year as well as 2-3 conventions.

CPAC Collective

CPAC Collective offers dancers ages 9 and over an opportunity to compete at a recreational level. Team members train weekly in ballet, jazz, and tap and attend two to three competitions per year. This is a great way to learn about how competition works with a smaller time commitment.

CPAC Ensemble/Troupe/MiniTroop

CPAC Ensemble/Troupe/MiniTroop are under the direction of Jennifer Lee and have evolved into a regionally and nationally acclaimed dance group that focuses not only on dance technique and performance but also on the exploration and expression of human emotion and communication through the art of dance.

CPAC Collective

CPAC Collective offers dancers ages 9 and over an opportunity to compete at a recreational level. Team members train for three to four hours per week and attend two to three competitions per year. This is a great way to learn about how competition works with a small time commitment.

Hip Hop

Classes are offered weekly for ages 7 and up in a variety of levels. Hip Hop is a fun, creative style of dance incorporating street style, free form movement and isolations set to hip hop and current popular music. Comfortable clothing and tennis shoes are required. Students perform in the Spring Recital Only.

Classes are offered weekly for ages 7 and up in a variety of levels. Tap is mostly rhythm-based with a blend of Broadway technique. Dancers may wear comfortable, yet form-fitting clothing. No jeans. Ballet

Classes are offered for ages 7 and up in a variety of levels. Level 1 ballet classes meet for 60 minutes one time per week, levels 2 and above meet for 90 minutes two times per week. Dancers wear black leotard, pink seamed tights, pink leather ballet shoes, and hair secured in a bun. Ballet students perform in the Spring Recital only. Each level follows a syllabus that is designed to be progressive and help students focus on how to execute the steps correctly. Development of the student is geared at their own pace to what they can handle physically as well as mentally. Our advanced level Ballet classes feature a live piano accompanist.

This weekly 45 minute class blends a combination of rhythm, coordination, and movement. Dancers may wear comfortable, yet form-fitting clothing. No jeans. Tap shoes are required (oxford style – no character shoes).
