Classes

PBT + Strength & Conditioning

PBT + Strength & Conditioning combines body conditioning with ballet and pilates to help students advance in all dance forms by training muscle memory. PBT focuses on core stability, weight placement and alignment.

Musical Theater Fulfilling Dreams

Have you ever dreamed of being on Broadway, or perhaps you cannot help but sing along to your favorite show tunes? Musical Theater is for you! In this class our teachers will explore a variety of styles of theatre dance from the classic to the contemporary, all while incorporating acting and dancing. Music will include age-appropriate selections from many favorite Broadway shows.

Hip Hop Modern Jazz Funk

A one of a kind fusion of jazz funk and street dancing create hip hop dance. In this high-energy class, students will learn the basics of many street dance styles with combinations set to their favorite age-appropriate music. Students will benefit greatly from the isolations, strength and flexibility required of this energetic dance style. This style of dance encourages the dancer’s personal free-style interpretation of the music.

Jazz, Lyrical & Contemporary

Expression of the lyrics or words sung through dance movements is what sets lyrical dance apart and creates this unique style of dance. The dancer will concentrate on extension work, turns and leaps, choreography and style. Ballet technique is very important for lyrical and jazz. In jazz class, a strong emphasis is placed on proper technique as the students learn jazz isolations, leaps, turns, floor work and combinations in many styles.

Ballet & Technique Teaching Fundamentals

Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance. It proves extremely beneficial to build strength on the arms, legs and core areas of the body. A strong core is vital for balance in dance movement, especially important in developing flexibility, leaps and turns. Through these structured classes, students will learn the proper terminology, definitions and precise technique of each movement. This class will consist of barre and center floor work. It is recommended that every student at PDC be in at least one ballet class.

Tap Classes

Tap is great exercise and improves rhythmic skills. Dancers of all ages and skill levels will enjoy tap. These classes develop coordination, concentration, rhythm, and speed. Tap students are introduced to a broad range of standard tap technique to age appropriate music. PDC is widely recognized nationally for its strong tap program.

Combo Classes for Beginners

These classes are intended for first time dancers. Class levels are designated by the dancer's skill level, not age. Dancers receive training in both ballet and tap as well as an introduction to basic dance movement. Focus is on proper dance technique, form, discipline and fun. This class is perfect for students to learn skills required for their future dancing years. Classroom etiquette will be strongly emphasized. Students must be potty-trained or in pull-ups.
