About Rokita Dance Center

Rokita Dance Center, located in St. Peters, Missouri, is a vibrant hub dedicated to providing a comprehensive artistic dance education for aspiring dancers of all ages and skill levels, from three years old to adults. The center fosters a deep passion for dance, aiming to make the art form accessible to everyone while building self-esteem, personal confidence, and instilling enthusiasm for positive community influence. Our diverse curriculum includes foundational styles such as Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, alongside dynamic genres like Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern, and Pointe technique. We also offer Creative Dance and Tumbling. Our dedicated faculty and guest artists are experienced educators committed to nurturing each student's potential through a structured leveling system, ensuring they are placed in classes best suited to their knowledge and ability. The studio boasts four spacious dance rooms equipped with sprung/raised dance floors and mirrors, creating an optimal learning environment. Rokita Dance Center offers numerous performance opportunities, including an end-of-year Student Showcase, public performances, and the chance to join the Rokita Dance Center Competition Team. Instructors include Artistic Director Nicole Whitesell, along with experienced owners John and Tammy Rokita, and other dedicated educators and choreographers such as Elizabeth Telge and Marissa Mullen. Rokita Dance Center operates throughout the calendar year with distinct fall, spring, and summer semesters, providing continuous opportunities for growth and performance in a happy, positive, and safe environment.

Classes

Pointe 1,2 & 3

Students selected by the faculty who are leveling into Ballet 3 or 4 will have the option to also be placed in Pointe 1 or 2. This advanced class focuses on pointe technique for experienced ballet dancers.

Pre-Pointe

Typically students leveling into Ballet 2 will also be placed in Pre-Pointe. Some students may begin using Pointe shoes in this class. Students will remain in Pre-Pointe anywhere from one semester to two years, focusing on strengthening feet and ankles for pointe work.

Modern/Contemporary 1-4

This class explores the expressive and dynamic qualities of modern and contemporary dance techniques, encouraging students to develop their own movement style and performance artistry.

Pom Technique

Prepare students for future try-outs and placement on area school dance teams by developing skills specific to pom routines, including sharp movements, synchronization, and performance quality.

Combo 1-5

Teaches students short phases of movement from multiple faculty members in different styles of dance. Prepares students to learn and retain dance choreography and exposes them to multiple dance genres with immediate performance opportunities during class time.

Progressions 1-5

Allows students to work on skills, such as, jumps and turns, and other traveling combinations in multiple dance styles. This class is designed to refine technical execution and expand dancers' movement vocabulary.

Strength & Conditioning

This class focuses on building the physical stamina, flexibility, and strength necessary for dancers to excel in their respective styles, improving overall performance and injury prevention.

Ballet 1-5, Jazz 1-5, Tap 1-5, Tumbling 1-5, Hip-Hop 1-5

Students are leveled and placed by RDC faculty in these progressive classes covering Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Tumbling, and Hip-Hop, allowing them to develop skills across multiple dance styles.

Pre-Ballet, Pre-Tap, Pre-Jazz/Hip-Hop, Pre-Tumbling

Prepares students for more advanced class levels by introducing the foundational elements of various dance genres, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and tumbling.

Pre-Combo

Includes 45 minutes of Ballet, 30 minutes of Tap, and 30 minutes of Tumbling. Prepares students for more advanced class levels by introducing a blend of styles and building fundamental techniques.

Creative Movement Dance 2

Includes Ballet, Tap, and Tumbling. This class continues to build upon foundational movement skills, introducing more complex sequences and rhythms for young dancers, enhancing creativity and physical expression.

Creative Movement Dance 1

Includes Ballet, Tap, and Tumbling. This class is designed for young children to explore movement and coordination through basic dance steps and playful activities, fostering early development in the arts.
