TAP

Tap is an exciting dance form that makes you the musician along with the dancer. It explores the use of smaller muscles of the feet and body, along with the larger ones. Significance is placed on the articulation of tap sounds while working to perform them “close to the floor” and on the “balls of their feet” along with “style and presentation”. Emphasis is placed on the fundamental rhythms, body alignment, level, accenting, shading and weight changes of tap dancing. The students will begin their development of the tap vocabulary. Every class includes warm ups, technique, across the floor work and a dance combination.

JAZZ

This genre of dance is usually put together with quick, strong, and staccato movement done to upbeat music. It has been featured on hit TV shows, such as "So You Think You Can Dance" and "World of Dance". Jazz has numerous styles under its umbrella ranging from lyrical and contemporary, to urban funk and musical theatre. It's a dance form that can tap into your most energetic moods with all its versatility.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop technique Isolations Musicality Groundedness Exploring the different elements of hip hop such as breaking, krumping, tutting, grooving, etc Hip-Hop dance encompasses many of the classical dance styles, but is presented in a street or non-traditional format. The student is introduced to rhythm, musicality, control, dynamics, posture, and performance. Though hip-hop is usually high energy, some classes are now taught to use more isolation techniques. The goal of this class is to provide a framework of choreography in which each dancer will be able to add their own personal style and attitude.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT & COMBO

Our combo class is a mixed class of ballet, acro, and tap. The dancers will learn the techniques of each of the styles and will also develop coordination skills and basic educational skills like their left from right, colors, and numbers. The instructors use positive feedback to help the dancers learn how to have fun, take turns, and work as a team to accomplish their activities!

Beginner Pointe

Dancers usually begin pointe work in Level 3. Student should not be purchasing pointe shoes until speaking with the artistic directors. It is to the detriment of the dancer if pointe work is attempted too early. Dancers will be notified when the artistic directors feel that the dancer possesses the strength, technique, and maturity that is required for pointe.

Also incorporated into the classroom structure is strength training and exercises for increased flexibility and agility.
