About Pat's Dance Studio

Pat's Dance Studio, located in Baldwin, New York, has been a cornerstone of dance education for decades, nurturing talent across a wide spectrum of styles. Under the leadership of Director Melanie Vaughan, who began her own dance journey at the studio as a child, Pat's offers comprehensive training in genuine dance genres including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, Musical Theater, Contemporary, and Acrobatics. The studio also features energetic rhythms of Afro beats style dance and combines acting, singing, and dancing in its Musical Theater program. For very young learners, "Creative Ballet" and "Funky Tap" programs provide foundational skills, while older students can explore expressive Jazz and Hip Hop, including a dedicated "Boys Hip Hop" class. Specialized classes like Pre-Pointe and Pointe are available for advanced ballet students with teacher recommendation. Pat's Dance Studio boasts a dedicated faculty, including Artistic Director AnnMarie Famularo, Karlee Yanantuono, Jaria Morris, Isabella Rosatone, Christie Janeic, Sadie Stadler, Stefania Caruana, Carly Manza, Donovan Molinaro, Amanda Ward, and Savannah Cameron, many of whom are former students with deep roots in the Pat's community. These instructors bring a wealth of experience from professional training and performance backgrounds. Pat's Dance Studio emphasizes building a strong dance education with proper technique and a love for movement in a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere. Director Ms. Mel personally crafts each child's schedule to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment. The studio offers a unique opportunity to try any genre for free, encouraging students to discover their passion for dance and creativity from age 3 or pursuing advanced training. Classes

Contemporary

Contemporary is offered to the ballet student who wishes to enhance their style in a fluid and expressive way. This is a beautiful form of dance that brings a contemporary, dramatic and lyrical style along with amazing control. It brings a fabulous awareness of body placement and movement. To take this Class student must be recommended by a teacher

Pointe

Pointe is a form of classical ballet that is performed on your toes in Pointe shoes. The student, who has taken Pre-Pointe and whose body is strong enough can take this class. Extensive ballet training and discipline is a requirement. To take this Class student must be recommended by a teacher

Pre-Pointe

Pre-pointe is a class that is starts in Ballet slippers and eventually works into Pointe shoes. This class requires discipline. The student whose body is strong enough and has gone through extensive ballet training can take this class. To take this Class students must be recommended by a teacher

Musical Theater

Musical Theater combines acting, singing and dancing in one class. Become a Broadway Star! Adding the element of acting to your dance will teach you to dance from the inside out and enhance your stage presence and performance. You will learn to express yourself through dance with personality and emotion. To take this class students must take a technique class. (Tap/Jazz/Ballet)

African Dance

African dance has evolved in the past few years. We have studied West African dance, East African dance, along with North, South and Central African dance. Now with Afro beats music taking off, we have the chance to experience Afro beats style of dance as well. With the combination of the traditional styles and new original styles, we can now study and perform in class and on stage This is an open level dance class that is available to any student starting at age 5.

Hip-Hop/Boys Hip Hop

Hip hop refers to a style of dance created in the streets in the 1970's. It was a form of personal expression that was formed in conjunction of hip hop music. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking and popping. This class is performed in hip hop dance sneakers.

Jazz

Jazz, the dance, is as experimental, free form and fluid as Jazz the music. It's fusion, it's inventive, it's exuberant. And, like the music, Jazz dance is a uniquely American art form with influences from everywhere. The smooth and syncopated moves of Jazz are always all about the performance.

Tap

Tap dancing is the class by which an infinite number of rhythms are created with the toes and heels. This exciting class improves techniques of coordination, concentration, and movement. The class progresses in gradual steps to insure rapid improvement in children of all ages. Tap dancing improves coordination, stamina, speed, and rhythm.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation from which all dancing is built upon. By learning the fundamental techniques of this beautiful art form, any student, from young child to young adult, will have the base to perform any and all styles of dance with an added plus in strengthening posture, balance, and flexibility.

Funky Tap

Funky Tap, like Creative Ballet, is the introduction of tap to the very young child (2-5 year olds). It also combines discipline with songs and creative imagination. It alternates between the techniques of tap with the funk of jazz and hip-hop.

Creative Ballet

Creative Ballet introduces the techniques of ballet to the very young child. (2-5 year olds). It combines discipline with songs and creative imagination. It allows for pretending while teaching proper form and structure, and helps the child in developing their grace and style. This class adds musical theater and contemporary to the wonderful introduction to the art of ballet!
