About Hudson Valley Conservatory

Hudson Valley Conservatory (HVC), located in Walden, New York, is a premier performing arts education center dedicated to nurturing artistic talent and fostering a lifelong love for dance. With a rich legacy spanning over 30 years, HVC was founded by Broadway and film actor Samuel E. Wright, his wife Amanda Wright, a former professional dancer, and music educator Pamela Murphy. Today, under the artistic direction of former professional dancer and musical theater performer Dee Wright-Kelly and the creative vision of costume and set designer Zachary Kiernan, HVC continues its founding mission of making the transformative power of the arts accessible to all. HVC offers a comprehensive dance program for students of all ages and aspirations, built on strong technical training and artistic expression within a supportive community. Our curriculum introduces the youngest dancers to ballet, jazz, and tap, while progressing to specialized instruction for older students. We offer high-energy Hip Hop classes to build confidence and performance skills, alongside contemporary classes that fuse ballet, jazz, and modern dance, encouraging improvisation and individual artistry. The Jazz program emphasizes flexibility, strength, and musicality, inspired by Broadway and contemporary trends, while the Tap program hones rhythm, precision, and creativity across various styles. For dedicated students, the audition-based Pre-Professional Program provides intensive training in ballet, jazz, and contemporary, preparing them for prestigious college programs and professional careers. HVC instills discipline, confidence, and creativity, celebrating storytelling, artistry, and inclusion, ensuring every student discovers their unique artistic voice.
