Path to Friendship

Starlight Program

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is for those who love the stage! Learn the importance of performance and exaggerated movements, while dancing and acting!

Tap

Rhythm is key in this style of dance. With both percussive and Broadway-style movements, students enrolled in tap class not only give their feet a workout, but their brains get one, too. Young dancers love the noise their "special" shoes make, and are amazed at how many different sounds can be generated with different parts of their feet.

Pre Pointe

This class is available to our Advanced students, who must take at least one Ballet class per week in order to enroll. Preparing to dance in pointe shoes with special stretches is an exciting challenge!

Pointe

Once dancers have completed pre-pointe class, they are ready for this class done entirely in pointe shoes! Must be approved to enroll and must be enrolled in Ballet.

Lyripop

This dance form came into the spotlight as the television show So You Think You Can Dance gained international popularity. Using the stories and movement from Lyrical dance and combining them with popping and locking elements of the Hip Hop style, Lyripop allows dancers to not only have a blast, but challenges them to be open to anything!

Lyrical

Lyrical is a class that combines jazz and ballet technique and skills to tell a story! It is a wonderful class to learn different turns and jumps while also expressing oneself in an artistic manner! This is a great opportunity for students to really discover and showcase their artistry!

Jazz

Jazz dance combines movement and skill sets from different forms of dance, including Ballet, ethnic, and contemporary styles. It is an upbeat style set to popular music which makes this the favorite for many students. Miss Lindsey was one of those students!

Hip Hop

Starpath Dance Academy offers Hip Hop classes for various age groups. It is a street style of dance primarily performed to hip hop music. Dancers love this fun-loving, energetic style of current dance and never want it to end!

Contemporary

Many colleges and high schools offer modern/contemporary dance programs and focus on this form of dance. Contemporary dance stresses movement from the torso, floor work, contractions, releases, and fall and recovery. Contemporary elements allow dancers to express a unique vision through movement.

Ballet Fusion

Ballet Fusion is a class that allows students to learn and develop ballet discipline and skill sets and applies them to story-telling, lyrical movements and fun, age appropriate music! The class is offered to our 6-8 year old students.

Ballet

The foundation to many dance forms and the epitome of discipline, Ballet is arguably the most elegant style of dance. It is also a dance form that students benefit from starting with early in their dance career. Among a plethora of important skills, it teaches dancers to understand their center and gain flexibility and focus.

Acro

This style of dance teaches students developmentally appropriate acrobatic and tumbling movements including backbends, back walkovers, cartwheels, round-offs, handstands, elbow stands, aerials and more. Dancers will work on and develop strength, balance and flexibility.

Stars of the Stage

We are excited to enhance our Musical Theatre program with this new class that will explore all aspects of theatre production, including acting, singing and dancing! Our Stars of the Stage will have the opportunity to audition for our Christmas production - in 2025 this will be Elf Jr!

Strength & Conditioning for Artistic Athletes

This class will help students to improve endurance, strength and stamina. This is important for height in jumps, fluidity of movement, and carrying of the body in artistic skills. Students in this class will also learn exercises to help keep their muscles healthy and less prone to injury.

Intro to Dance/Dance Tricks

This class is for dancers who are in high school and interested in learning different techniques and skills in our most popular styles. Dancers will be able to use what they learn here for their dance team, cheer team and school musical auditions!

Pre Tap / Ballet

This one-hour long class allows students to continue from the Starlight Program or start new and learn and enjoy two fundamental dance styles. Allowing students to explore rhythmical and percussive movements with tap, and graceful technique with ballet, this is a great class to shine in!

Pre Tap / Jazz

Courses

Professor Pirouette

Miss Lindsey created the Professor Pirouette program to engage children in academics through dance! This program follows N.C. Curriculum Standards and will focus on literacy, mathematics and science, and learning grade-specific concepts through dance - moving, reading, choreographing and more. This program has been in the works for years and was scheduled to become a reality this fall with the opening of our new Green Level West location. With many children staying home from school or school plans uncertain, we thought NOW would be an even better time to introduce this exciting new program. We will begin a virtual six-week session, LIVE taught by one of our Starpath teachers, for each elementary grade level K-3. To begin, each grade level will have a 30-minute session per week.
