Pointe

Dancing on pointe is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard-toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill and is a central part of the female ballet dancer’s training and repertoire. Pointe is for the technically strong dancer who has advanced to a level in ballet where her body can accept the physical demands of pointe work. Dancers will need to wear a black leotard, pink tights, and pointe shoes (see pointe teacher for specific style of shoe). Fitted shorts or skirts may be worn and hair must be pulled back into a bun. Do not purchase shoes until our pointe teacher has given permission and guidance.

Hip-Hop

This class is full of energy and fun for both boys and girls who want to learn some Old School style influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Classes include warm-up and conditioning, simplified break down of each dance step, skill combinations and choreography. All moves and music are age appropriate and level specific. Students love learning these upbeat dance steps while moving to their favorite songs. These classes promote character development and teamwork. Lyrical

This style of dance uses music to translate emotion into movement; it is very fluid and utilizes aspects of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. Dancers are challenged to find meaning behind the music and connect that to the choreography. Dancers are taught to use smooth transitions between movements and incorporate breath into their dance.
