Dance Classes

Musical Theater Instructor - Voice Specialist
Neighborhood Dance is seeking a Musical Theater Instructor & Voice Specialist for our musical theater program. This role will partner with the Choreographer/Director to provide voice and acting instruction to youth ages 5 - 18 and assist in our musical productions. Opportunities for private lessons are also available.

Neighborhood Dance is seeking super-star dance instructors! We pride ourselves on offering classes that are taught by highly-qualified teachers in positive classrooms, and we are looking for caring, fun and motivated teachers that are passionate about developing children and fostering their love for dance and the performing arts. Our classes go beyond teaching technique and poise and help students develop important life skills and learn to be respectful, confident, and conscientious young people in the community.
Broadway Kids classes
Tuition for the Broadway Kids classes follows the ‘Rate Table for Dance Classes’ and these class hours count toward the total family hours. Private voice or acting lessons are available, contact us for rates.
Dance Classes
Tuition rates for dance classes are determined by the ‘Tuition Rate Table for Dance Classes’. Our approach to rate discounts is FAMILY FRIENDLY! Using the rate table, add up the number of hours per week for all dance classes being taken by ALL students in the family and find the corresponding monthly tuition fee. If total hours ends in .25, round up to nearest 0.5 hrs; If total hours ends in .75 and are > 1.0 hrs, round up to the nearest 1.0 hrs.
Broadway Juniors
Broadway Juniors classes have a specific dress code including an ensemble cast T-shirt, solid black leggings or athletic pants, and tan jazz shoes to promote focus.

Encore Academy - Kicks, Leaps & Turns
This class is designed for students who love to dance and want to take their skills to the next level. We’ll be focusing on developing and enhancing each student’s capabilities with kicks, leaps and turns and then applying these skills to more challenging combinations. Definitely don’t miss this one if you’re looking to up your game! OPEN TO ALL youth dancers who have taken at least 1 year of ballet technique class. Competitive dance experience NOT REQUIRED. Students will grouped by age and skill level to ensure targeted training and development.
Dance Foundations
This summer class is designed to be a fun exploration through the movement styles of Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Tap, where students will get an introduction to the basic steps in each style and learn simple combinations. A great option for the new student interested in dance and/or for those considering options for next year’s school session. Classes meet once a week.
Twinkle Toes
This class is designed to introduce your 3 to 5-year-old to the world of dance! Our creative ballet and tap combo classes focus on strengthening locomotor skills, introducing basic ballet and tap movements and general dance concepts in a fun, imagination-driven class. With a teacher who will nurture your child’s confidence and encourage their progress, your Tiny Dancer will blossom.

This creative ballet class is for toddlers ages 18mths to 3 years old. In this class, the instructor and parent gradually help the toddler build comfort in taking dance class on their own. This class is designed for toddlers to explore basic elements in creative movement and ballet to popular children’s movement games. Props such as scarves, flowers, bean bags, and hula hoops are used to enhance the students learning experience.
Hip Hop Mic Drop
This spring class is designed to be a fun exploration through the latest Hip Hop beats and moves, where we re-mix the fundamentals with some fun, high-energy combinations fit to each student’s skill level. A great option for someone just starting out as well as for those looking to get in more practice. All music and moves are age appropriate. Students do not perform in the spring recital. Classes meet once a week for 12 weeks.

Hip Hop Ninjas
This class introduces students to the foundations of jazz and hip hop dance techniques. All classes begin with stretching and isolations, then move into fun across-the-floor, combinations and dance choreography to popular (and age appropriate) music. Builds locomotor strength, rhythm, and flexibility. Great for boys (and girls) who love music, love to move, and may not necessarily consider themselves a dancer just yet.
Fancy Feet
Introduction to the foundations of ballet and tap techniques. This class focuses on the basic principles of ballet technique and introduces the concept of “turnout”. Students learn how to articulate the foot, basic arm and foot positions and how to travel in space with poise and clear direction.

Broadway Triple Threat (Voice & Acting)
A “Triple Threat” performer is a performer who can Act, Sing and Dance. These well-rounded performers have the competitive advantage when they audition for roles because they are so versatile and their skills add so much more to the overall production. Students work on age-appropriate voice and acting techniques and then apply these techniques to improv games, as well as skits and scenes from classic Broadway musicals.
Broadway Teens
As dedicated musical theater performers enters their teenage years, it’s time to get them college-ready and focus on voice and acting techniques to continue their talent development. In our Broadway Teens classes, students select and work on core individual audition pieces, which include contrasting monologues and contrasting songs, as well as small group skits and musical numbers.
Broadway Juniors
This children’s theater ensemble program offers students an opportunity to join an ensemble cast and perform in a live musical production. Students continue learning theatrical concepts and skills through the experiential learning processes of creative dramatics. They learn and rehearse character roles and collaborate to produce a musical.
Broadway Kids
This introductory children’s theater program develops the building blocks of singing, acting, and dancing through a variety of voice and acting exercises and improv games. Students learn the basic theatrical concepts and become skilled in new ways to communicate through voice and body. Students then apply this knowledge by performing a musical number in the annual dance recital.

Neighborhood Dance Crew
Classes are grouped by age and skill level. Younger groups get an introduction to the hip hop genre and dance fundamentals with creative dance and improvisation techniques. Students learn how to connect their body movement and steps with the rhythm and beat of the music. They learn various body positions and isolations, as well as practice balance and weight transfer exercises and footwork. Older groups continue working on body control and learn more intricate steps at varying paces and speed. Students team up to master new moves and execute choreography. New combinations are taught each week to build a diverse inventory of tricks and moves.
Hip Hop Ninjas
This BOYS ONLY class provides an introduction to the hip hop genre and dance fundamentals with creative dance and improvisation techniques. Students learn how to connect their body movement and steps with the rhythm and beat of the music. They learn various body positions and isolations, as well as practice balance and weight transfer exercises and footwork. All skill levels welcome.
Hip Hop Princesses
This GIRLS ONLY class provides an introduction to the hip hop genre and dance fundamentals with creative dance and improvisation techniques. Students learn how to connect their body movement and steps with the rhythm and beat of the music. They learn various body positions and isolations, as well as practice balance and weight transfer exercises and footwork. All skill levels welcome.
Ballet / Jazz / Tap Combo Classes
Jazz & Tap (11 - 13 years)
Students in this cohort train in the rhythmic styles of jazz and tap. Classes consist of warm-up, center, and across the floor training. In Jazz, students continue to build strength and good form with core moves and work on more advanced levels of turns, kicks, jumps and slides. As they progress, students focus on making their dance expression more dynamic. In Tap, students continue working their heel/toe combinations and steps such as shuffles, flaps, time steps, drawbacks, cramp rolls. As they progress, they begin working more complicated rhythmic combinations that include pullbacks and wings. Students team up to master new moves and execute choreography. All skill levels welcome. Lessons plans will be designed according to the skill level of each group.
Jazz & Tap (8 - 10 years)
Students in this cohort train in the rhythmic styles of jazz and tap. Classes consist of warm-up, center, and across the floor training. Proper terminology and musicality is stressed. In Jazz, students learn and practice various footwork, transitions, turns, kicks, jumps and leaps. In Tap, students learn and practice a variety of rhythmic steps and heel/toe combinations. As they build strength and mobility students begin to work on more challenging steps such as shuffles, flaps, time steps, drawbacks, and cramp rolls. (Ballet is required for the jazz component but not tap. If students are interested in jazz elements without the ballet, then we recommend students look into our hip hop program.)
Jazz & Tap (5 - 7 years)
Students work on the rhythmic styles of jazz and tap. With training in foundational technical elements and footwork such as turns, extensions, jumps and leaps, and tap rhythms and patterns, this class sets our students up for success by laying the groundwork in correct technique and form to be able to take on more challenging movements as they progress. (Ballet is recommended when taking this class, but not required.)
Ballet (11 - 13 years)
Students in this cohort continue to focus on barre and centre work, including adagio, petit and grand allegro. We then introduce more complex movements such as promenade, tour j’ete, rond de ‘jambe en lair, etc. An extra emphasis on attention to detail, musicality, and expressiveness ensures students continue developing proper technique.
Ballet (8 - 10 years)
Students in this cohort focus on traditional barre, across the floor, and center work designed to build a fine, graceful, strong, beautiful, and healthy body with fine posture and poise. Students will learn proper body alignment, balance, precise footwork, and arm placements while increasing flexibility and strength.
Ballet (5 - 7 years)
Students transition from the preschool class format into the more traditional ballet class format. They are introduced to an increased level of formal training consisting of barre and center work. With a focus on body control, this class develops a student’s understanding and experience of “turnout” and proper body placement and alignment.
Tiny Tots
This creative ballet class is for toddlers ages 6mths to 3 years old. In this class, the instructor and parent gradually help the toddler build comfort in taking dance class on their own. Amber Hutchings has had a love of dance and music for as long as she can remember, with childhood memories of dancing down grocery store aisles. A seasoned educator with over 15 years of formal dance training, Amber holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University. She specializes in ballet, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary dance, with experience in tap, hip hop, and Broadway-style storytelling and character dance.

It is a great option for anyone interested in learning in using their voice on stage. Students perform a scene with complementary musical number for friends and family the last week of class. Classes are taught by our musical director and meet once a week for 8 weeks.

Whose Line Is It Anyway Improv Acting Camp
Let the laughter begin as our young comedians unleash their wit and creativity just like the hilarious antics on “Whose Line Is It Anyway”! In this week-long improv acting workshop, students collaborate to create improvised scenes based on prompts from the instructor. In addition, they will explore different characters, comedic timing and storytelling and of course have tons of fun with various improv games and exercises. At the end of the week, students perform funny skits for friends and family!
Winnie The Pooh Kids - A Musical Experience
Oh, bother! Join Pooh and his pals in the Hundred Acre Wood for a delightful week of musical fun. This camp brings the heartwarming tales of Winnie the Pooh Kids to life as students learn songs, scenes, and simple choreography inspired by the charming story. Campers will create their own adventures alongside Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore while discovering the importance of kindness and teamwork. The week ends with a sweet performance for family and friends—a smackerel of something wonderful!
Wicked - A Musical Experience
