PRACTICA

Our Sunday practica is designed not simply for dancing, but for students to continue to develop their skills. Our culture at Tango Northside is that everyone helps everyone else in their development.

Sunday 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Tango Post-Grad
$15.00

For students who have graduated from Tango Northside Foundations series or have similar experience. In this class we will build on what we have developed in the foundations classes as we refine our movement, technique, and lead and follow communication with the goal of our dance becoming more musical, subtle, and technically advanced. We will also explore the array of singular steps and ornamental techniques in tango. There is so much more to learn and develop!

Thursday 7:30pm - 8:45pm
Foundations C
$15.00

For students who have completed Foundations B or are at a similar place in their development as dancers. In this class, we will introduce dancers to the crossed foot system, the back ocho, and the half-turn to both sides. These elements make up a series of figures we call The Elegant Eight, which compose the foundation of the crossed foot dance, and which we will pair with the slower, more melodic orchestras of Argentine Tango. No partner needed. Students without a partner will be paired with another dancer.

Thursday 7:30pm - 8:45pm
INTRO: Foundations A
$100.00

Especially for students new to tango — no prior dance experience is necessary! In this class, we will introduce new dancers to the essential basics: the tango embrace, traditional tango music, foundational figures, and the basics of navigating a social dance floor. This is also a great class for any dancer who wants to refresh their basics or learn a different role. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring thick socks to dance in! Partners are not required, but it's great if you bring one! Students without a partner will be paired with another dancer, possibly of the same gender, and if so will learn how to both lead and to follow. Advance registration and payment is required to join this class.

Tuesday 7:30pm - 8:45pm
FREE Sample Class

This one-time class will introduce you to the basic movements and concepts of Argentine tango as a social dance. No partner or prior dance experience needed! However, these classes can fill up, so advance registration is required to save your spot! PLEASE NOTE: No street shoes are allowed in the studio; please bring socks to dance in and wear comfortable, breathable clothes!

Tuesday 7:30pm - 8:45pm
Foundations B
$60.00

For students who have graduated from Foundations A or are at a similar place in their development. In this class, we will introduce dancers to double-time rhythm and to a set of foundational figures we call The Sweet Five. Developed at Tango Northside, this set of enjoyable, challenging, simple figures will enable dancers to have a successful and satisfying tango experience while building their dance skills. We will pair these figures with the rhythmical orchestras of Argentine Tango. No partner needed. Students without a partner will be paired with another dancer.

Wednesday 7:30pm - 8:45pm
