Acro 2
Acro 2 is the current highest level of our Acro and Tumbling program. This class aims to further develop students' advanced skills like handsprings and aerials throughout the year. New walkover styles and shapes will be introduced that involve higher levels of flexibility and strength. Partner and group tricks will continue to be taught. This class’s goal is to aim for mastery of all previous skills taught in previous classes while introducing new skills. Acro 2 presents many opportunities for students to achieve new skills and is always able to bring something new to the table. Even students who have achieved all of the previously mentioned skills can look forward to something new being taught to them in this class.
Acro 1
Acro 1 is the beginning of advanced-level tumbling skills. Taking the skills learned in Tumbling 2 and turning them into front and back walkovers, learning the beginning stages of forward and back handsprings, and advanced cartwheel progressions. Balance and Flexibility skills will focus on holding different positions for longer periods. We will begin to introduce beginning-level partnering and group skills. Skills from Tumbling 1 and 2 will still be used for warmups and progressions into Acro 1 skills. As always, additional skills may be taught depending on the strength of the class or the individual students.
Tumbling 2
The next step up from our Tumbling 1 class. This class will focus on retaining and polishing all skills taught in Tumbling 1, and then the next level of skills. This class will be focused on getting consistent backbends by the end of the year. As we work towards getting our backbends we will introduce skills fundamental for our next levels of Acro. Focusing more on handstands to bridges and recovering (standing) up out of them, and beginner back kickovers. Balancing and Flexibility skills will also advance in difficulty levels, as we begin to work on our chin and elbow stands. Just like in Tumbling 1 if a child is showing mastery of skills progression steps will be given to them to continue working on new and high-level skills.
Tumbling 1
Tumbling 1 is our foundation class for Acro. In this class, the focus is to execute skills and use the equipment safely. We are teaching proper beginner tumbling skills and techniques. Skills that we focus on in this class are forward, backward, and straddle rolls, handstands, cartwheels, rounds, and beginner balancing skills like headstands. We also start on our basics for bridges, tables, and candlesticks. As the year progresses and students begin to gain skills additional skills may be added like round-offs, handstands to bridge, and beginner backbend drills. Students’ skills will be assessed individually if a child is demonstrating mastery of all taught skills advancements will be offered as well.
