About Le Roux School of Dance

Le Roux School of Dance, located in Royersford, Pennsylvania, is a premier destination for dance education, fostering confidence and leadership through the art of movement for students of all ages. Under the guidance of a passionate and experienced faculty, Le Roux offers a comprehensive curriculum encompassing a wide array of styles, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theater, and Ballroom. The studio also incorporates the acrobatic artistry of Acro and the energetic rhythms of Zumba. Led by Kelly Stento, the esteemed faculty includes Donald Nee, Meghan McCall, Lauren Zaleta-Crespo, Brooke McKeown, Maureen Monteleone, Mehgan Jarvie, Kierstin Moses, Alissa Johann, Regina Sukanick, Nicole Raudonis, and Peyton McCue, many of whom possess advanced degrees and extensive performance backgrounds. Le Roux caters to developmental stages, from toddlers in the 'Petite Feet' program (18-30 months) exploring creative movement to older students engaged in 'Formal Training' for classical ballet and pointe work. The studio is committed to inclusivity with programs like 'Extraordinary Stars' for children with special needs. Classes

Lyrical/Contemporary

Contemporary/Lyrical classes combine the beautiful techniques of ballet and jazz as it explores levels, mood and the story behind the lyrics in a variety of music. Beginning at age 7, students can explore this class to enhance their poise, expression, extension, flexibility and overall emotional performance.

Jazz

Jazz classes are upbeat and FUN for all ages. Each class offers a variety of pop music to inspire students to move and perform; all while exposing them to the world of music beyond their own playlist. Techniques taught in jazz develop overall physicality while building coordination, flexibility, core and arm strength, as well as endurance.

Tap

The rhythmic sound of happy feet! Even the most basic tap class will enhance performance in math, science, or musical instrument instruction. Tap dancers excel in coordination, multi-tasking, pattern recognition and musicality. Tap technique is offered in combination with all ballet classes beginning at age 2.5.

Ballet/Pointe

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and is required for all students who wish to enroll in tap, jazz and/or lyrical technique. At age 8, students move from the creative dance approach into classical training. Each class will build on basic fundamentals of our children's dance program while increasing knowledge of terminology, flexibility, strength in feet, legs, arms and core.

Extraordinary Stars

LeRoux School of Dance is giving children with special needs the opportunity to dance and express themselves through movement. Every class will explore elementary ballet, jazz and hip hop techniques at an appropriate pace. Class begins with a fun energetic warm up, followed by ballet technique at the barre.

Show Stars Dance Program™

Show Stars classes offer Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Acro and Hip Hop. These single technique classes offer the dancers an opportunity to take TWO movement techniques on the same day making dance their sport of choice with multiple days of training.

Twinkle Star Dance™

An age specific class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a progressive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles.

Twinkle Babies Dance™

A 30-minute introductory dance class containing ballet, tap and creative movement. Young dancers will explore basic steps while following direction and imitating movement in a progressive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance.

Petite Feet

A 30-minute introduction to the world of dance where the tiniest dancers can explore creative movement with or without the guiding hand of an adult. This LeRoux exclusive program will inspire and foster the natural creativity and imagination of those with petite feet.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Contemporary/Lyrical classes combine the beautiful techniques of ballet and jazz as it explores levels, mood and the story behind the lyrics in a variety of music. Beginning at age 7, students can explore this class to enhance their poise, expression, extension, flexibility and overall emotional performance. One hour of ballet technique, as well as a weekly jazz class are strongly recommended for all contemporary/lyrical students. Some classes require previous experience as well as ballet and jazz enrollment.

Jazz

Jazz classes are upbeat and FUN for all ages. Each class offers a variety of pop music to inspire students to move and perform; all while exposing them to the world of music beyond their own playlist. Look for everything from Rock Around the Clock to Dancing Queen to Uptown Funk. Techniques taught in jazz develop overall physicality while building coordination, flexibility, core and arm strength, as well as endurance. Jazz education varies by instructor while offering a combination of New York (Bob Fosse influence) and Lyrical (Mia Michaels influence) styles. Jazz technique is offered beginning at age 6 and requires ballet enrollment at all ages.

Tap

At age 8, students move from the creative dance approach into classical training. Each class will build on basic fundamentals of our children's dance program while increasing knowledge of terminology, flexibility, strength in feet, legs, arms and core. In addition, dancers will develop musicality and strong artistic performance skills. En Pointe (dancing on your toes) is an advanced technique that has a ballet enrollment requirement. Beginning at age 9, interested students can begin to explore Pointe in a pre-pointe class. Pre-Pointe and Beginner Pointe classes focus on the development of foot and ankle strength required for successful transition from the barre, to center floor, to stage performances. Students En Pointe take a minimum of 2 hours of ballet technique and 1 hour of pointe technique a week and are the only students who perform En Pointe in our annual recital.

Extraordinary Stars

LeRoux School of Dance is giving children with special needs the opportunity to dance and express themselves through movement. Every class will explore elementary ballet, jazz and hip hop techniques at an appropriate pace. Class begins with a fun energetic warm up, followed by ballet technique at the barre, across the floor movement and finishes with a small dance routine. Musical selections will vary by technique and the use of props will enhance the learning experience for all. The dancers will learn a choreographed piece that will be performed at the year-end recital.

Show Stars Dance Program™

Show Stars classes offer Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Acro and Hip Hop. These single technique classes offer the dancers an opportunity to take TWO movement techniques on the same day making dance their sport of choice with multiple days of training. Our Show Stars level is designed to welcome new dancers as well as build on the skills of those who've completed our Twinkle Star Dance curriculum. Exercises which stretch and tone muscles, and develop support for proper stress-free alignment of the skeletal structure are explored at this level, using a variety of music. These classes are a great workout and a fun way to release tension and stress while attaining body awareness and self-confidence, as well as understanding the importance of movement for physical and mental health. The knowledge gained at this level prepares the student for the attention to detail required for formal training.

Twinkle Star Dance™

An age specific class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a progressive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancer's mind and body, while the use of props will enhance their experience with an added element of FUN!

The Steppers Dance Team

The Steppers Dance Team offers students at LeRoux the opportunity to move from our recreational program into a competitive environment. Auditions are held each spring; even returning dancers audition for placement. We provide 2 or 3 master class/workshop/convention options each year so that our dancers have the chance to take class with teachers/choreographers/dancers from all over the US. In addition, they compete against dancers from all over the Northeast at 4-8 competitions each year hosted anywhere from Maryland to Atlantic City to Lancaster.
