About Wevodau Dance Center

Wevodau Dance Center, located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, has been a cornerstone of the Central PA dance scene for over 40 years, fostering a love for movement in students from toddlers to adults. Virtual Class

Starting in Fall of 2024, we will NO LONGER be offering classes via Zoom. If you need to miss a class for any reason, please see your teacher for an appropriate make up class.

Toddler Classes

We teach classes from 3 years old and up. Just make sure your little one is potty trained before they begin!

Ballet Technique Int/Adv

These focused technique classes are designed for dancers with a strong ballet foundation who are ready to refine their skills, deepen artistry, and build strength. Emphasizing alignment, coordination, and expressive movement, each class incorporates intentional repetition, musicality, and personalized feedback to support every dancer’s growth. With a supportive yet challenging approach, dancers develop whole-body awareness and confidence while continuing to elevate their technique. If you are new to our studio, please contact us directly for an evaluation and placement. Current students should speak with their instructor regarding placement.

Preschool Ballet, Tumble, & Jazz

Focused on building strength, body awareness, and musicality, this high-energy class will introduce students to basic ballet, jazz, and acrobatic moves. 1 hour. Designed for potty-trained dancers, aged 4-6 (Kindergarten).

Toddler Ballet, Tumble & Tap

This fun, energetic, and eclectic class lets your child explore different styles of dance while learning valuable motor skills. Equal time is given to basic ballet, tap, and tumbling moves. 1 hour. Designed for potty-trained dancers aged 3-4.

Preschool Ballet, Tumble & Tap

This fun, energetic, and eclectic class lets your child explore different styles of dance while learning valuable motor skills and musicality. The class gives equal time to basic ballet, tap, and tumbling skills. 1 hour. Designed for potty-trained dancers, aged 4-6 (Kindergarten).

Dance For Fitness

A great way to build strength, stamina, and mental plasticity, this fun cardio workout uses basic dance steps and easy-to-follow choreography set to popular music and ends with 15 mins of stretching. 1 hour. Open to students 13 years and up. You can register as a regular student or drop in and pay as you go.

Pre-Pointe/Pointe/Point 2

Designed to prepare and strengthen students for going en pointe , these classes focus on technique and bar exercises to ready students for center floor-work. Dancers will need thera-bands in addition to the required shoes to continue strength exercises at home and be enrolled in regular ballet classes at the same time. 1 hour. Only open to students 11 or older who our teaching team has approved to buy and use pointe shoes.

Adult 1–3 Ballet/Lyrical, Jazz, and Tap

Eclectic classes that cover a variety of techniques and styles, adult classes include 1 hour of ballet/lyrical, 30 mins of jazz, and 30 mins of tap. Adult 1: Please sign up for this class if you are new to our studio. Our teaching team must evaluate you to place you in Adult 2 or 3. To move up to the next level, each student will need to be evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*.

Contemporary 1–3 & Adult

Ideal for building improvisation skills and body awareness, contemporary classes cover the technique and styles of masters such as Horton, Graham and Dunham while also working on choreography and expression. 1 hour. To move up to the next level, each student will need to be evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*. We also offer adult contemporary.

Acro 1–3

Great for developing strength, flexibility, and balance, these classes will teach acrobatic moves based on dancers’ skill and level. Just be aware that the dress code is a little different! We ask everyone come to class in bare feet and in a leotard and tights or comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and do not hide movement or body placement. Acro 1: 1 hour. Open to any student aged 6-12. Acro 2: 1 hour. Open to ages 8-15 with experience in Acro 1 or an evaluation. Acro 3: 1 hour. Students must have taken the previous level and have been evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*.

Hip Hop 1–4

Using a unique fusion of jazz, funk, and hip hop, these classes focus on choreography, performance, and technique to help your dancer shine on stage. 1 hour. To move up to the next level, each student will need to be evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*.

Levels 3 & 4 Ballet, Jazz, and Tap

Full of encouragement and guidance to help your child progress, our lower and upper intermediate classes devote 1 hour to ballet, 45 mins to jazz, and 45 mins to tap each week. Level 3: Tailored to ages 10-18 who have taken level 2 and have been evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*. Level 4: Suitable for ages 11-18 who have taken Level 3 and have been evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*.

Level 5 Ballet/Lyrical, Jazz, and Tap

Focused on refining dancers’ musicality, technique, and stage presence, this class is our most advanced level of ballet/lyrical, jazz, and tap. Designed for ages 13-20 who have taken Level 4 and have been evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*.

Levels 1 & 2 Ballet, Jazz, and Tap

The first two levels of our dance program, 1 & 2 build a solid foundation in ballet, jazz, and tap. Level 1: 90 minutes. Perfect for ages 6 (1st grade)-10 who are just starting dance or have completed our pre-school program. Level 2: 2 hours. Designed for ages 8-12 who have taken Level 1 and been evaluated and endorsed by our teaching team*.

Tap, Jazz and Lyrical

Stephanie, who joined the marketing team in 2021, has been dancing for 30 years in tap, jazz and lyrical, but always prefers tap.
