Classes

Teen / Adult Dance

Youth Dance

Hip Hop

Hip-hop - This is a form of street dance that evolved from hip hop culture and hip-hop music. It borrows from several different styles such as African Dance, Tap, and Ballet. As we transformed from freestyle street dance into a more uniform and technical style, we were able to create a fun, upbeat environment that allows anyone to join in and dance along.

Ballet Technique

Classical ballet is the foundation from which nearly all dance styles have developed. Ballet Technique improves posture, alignment, agility and flexibility. We will focus on well-maintained posture, with correctly placed arms, and centered upper-body. In this class, there will be a short warmup, barre, center, and across the floor exercises designed to increase strength, flexibility, coordination and musicality.

Global Dance

In this class, various dance styles from around the world will be highlighted. Throughout the semester, various new disciplines will be introduced, including West African, Jamaican and Latin dance styles.

Dance Exploration Adult

Dance Exploration is an exciting introduction to the world of dance! This class combines the basics of Ballet, Modern and Jazz dance styles to focus on stretching, strengthening and coordination. Barre, center and across the floor exercises improve posture and alignment, increase strength and flexibility, enhance coordination... and they are fun!! Classes are designed to be beneficial for all levels of fitness and technique, with focus on individual growth. Dance Exploration classes provide wonderful movement opportunities for everyone, and are a great way for all performers - dancers, gymnasts, circus artists, musical theatre performers, figure skaters, and more - to improve their artistry!

Contemporary / Modern

This class will combine elements of several dance genres including jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Dance Exploration

Dance Exploration is an exciting introduction to the world of dance! This class combines the basics of Ballet and Jazz dance styles. Students will learn the fundamentals of dance while being encouraged to creatively express themselves.

Combo Gymnastics Dance

In this class an introduction of both gymnastics and dance will be taught. The class will consist of a 15 minute warm-up and 1/2 hour of gymnastics instruction and a 1/2 hour of dance instruction. For the gymnastics portion, students will do 2 events each week. The structure will rotate from rotations on floor and bars one week to beam and vault the next week, and so on. During the Dance portion, they will focus on one genre of dance per week. The styles that will be taught are: Contemporary/Lyrical, Jazz. Ballet and Hip-hop. Students will work to build a foundation of basic skills with good technique in these disciplines, while progressively working towards higher level skills.

Combo Circus Dance

In this class an introduction of both the circus arts and dance disciplines will be taught. The class will consist of a 15 minute warm-up and 1/2 hour of circus instruction and a 1/2 hour of dance instruction. During the circus portion of class, one set of skills per week will be focused on. For example, the structure will change weekly from aerial apparatus, to acro tumbling, to hoop flow and so on. During the Dance portion, students will focus on one genre of dance per week. The styles that will be taught are: Contemporary/Lyrical, Jazz. Ballet and Hip-hop. Students will work to build a foundation of basic skills with good technique in these disciplines, while progressively working towards higher level skills.
