Pre-Company

Our Pre-Company Team offers a joyful and encouraging space where even our youngest dancers can thrive. Some children show natural rhythm, focus, or a deep love for movement at an early age—this team is designed just for them! Through age-appropriate training and fun, structured routines, young dancers build confidence performing on stage, teamwork and discipline in a supportive environment, stronger technique and musicality from the very start, and a foundation for long-term growth in both faith and dance. Even at ages 3–5, many students are ready for a challenge—and we’re here to help them rise to it with love, grace, and guidance. Our Pre-Company Team is the perfect introduction to the world of competitive dance for boys and girls ages 3–5. These young dancers will perform one or two small group routines in either Jazz or Tap.

Bungee Fitness

As you experience the freedom of flight, a bungee workout can synthesize components of pilates, yoga, dance, circus, and good old-fashioned aerobics. With the bungee harness and cord as your apparatus, you can reimagine many mid-air moves and poses that may have been previously inaccessible, like handstands, forearm stands, side flips and more.

Trapeze

The Trapeze is known for looking like a swing with its horizontal steel bar suspended from two ropes. There are two types of Trapeze: Static Trapeze and Dynamic/Flying Trapeze. KSDA will be focusing on Static Trapeze. Unlike the Flying Trapeze, the Static Trapeze bar mainly stays in place. Trapeze shares quite a few foundational skills with the Sling and Lyra. This makes Trapeze one of the easier apparatus to add to aerial repertoire if you already have aerial experience. At KSDA, we combine Lyra & Trapeze into a Combo Class. This is extremely beneficial to the aerialist to practice Trapeze & Lyra during the same class session to strengthen their grip endurance, and aerial terminology, all while improving technique.

Lyra

Lyra, also known as the aerial hoop, is a circular steel bar that allows for aerial acrobatics while being below, in, or above the apparatus. It can be static or dynamic and is popular with gymnasts and adults. Unlike Sling and Silks, Lyra does not squeeze or move when weight is placed on it. KSDA provides chalk for extra grip during class and performances. Students will develop calluses on their hands as they master foundational skills and progress to partnering skills, which involve two aerialists performing on a single lyra. We recommend students start on the Sling first, in order to better prepare the aerialist for the Lyra if they have no gymnastic background. It is extremely beneficial to the aerialist to take a Sling & Lyra class during the same season to strengthen their terminology, technique and endurance.

Silks

Silks is an aerial fabric that is used for executing acrobatic movements while hanging or wrapping oneself safely in the fabric. It is considered one of the most beautiful apparatus in the aerial family, but also one of the most difficult due to the extensive upper body strength required. Most skills performed on silks involve holding one’s body weight in the air for a prolonged period of time. Our students build strength and technique on the Sling to prepare for silks.

Sling

Sling is an aerial silk fabric that is used to develop trust and build grip strength, as well as overcome fears safely. It is a good choice for beginners as it does not require much upper body strength, and foundational aerial terminology learned on the Sling is applicable to other aerial apparatuses such as lyra, rope, silks, and trapeze. Our students start in Sling 1 & 2 before advancing to Silks.

Aerial

Recreational & Competitive Aerial classes for students ages 4 through adults. We meet our students at any skill level and work with them to develop confidence, discipline, and capability while honoring God.

Acro

Creative Dance

This exciting fun-filled preschool program blends imagination with movement and the underlying principles of dance. Students use props such as scarves, bean bags, ribbons and more as they are introduced to ballet basics, tumbling & movement fundamentals. Children also work on body control, listening skills, balance and coordination. We want your child to ‘fall in love’ with dance.

Combo

Combo classes will teach the beginning basics of two different styles of dance in one class.

Hip-Hop

Lyrical

A fusion of Ballet & Jazz dance techniques. This class will challenge students to use movements and emotion to tell the story of the music and is very expressive and worshipful. We focus on improvisation, body awareness, expression, performance quality, and flexibility. Ballet is highly recommended when taking this class.

Tap

Jazz

We introduce your child to a fun world of cool moves, turns and leaps. This requires coordination and flexibility that we develop through warmup and center floor exercises. Ballet is recommended when taking this class.

Ballet

Students will learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility. No serious performer or dancer should be without this dance foundation and it enhances the look of all other dance forms. Grouped by age and experience.
