About MAYA Movement Arts

MAYA Movement Arts, based in Greenville, South Carolina, is a pioneering studio dedicated to a diverse range of movement and dance training. Founded in early 2014 by Kelly, MAYA was Greenville's first aerial studio, establishing a strong presence in the local arts scene. Kelly is a distinguished instructor of Sling, Trapeze, Aerial Fitness + Yoga, and AcroYoga, playing a key role in developing aerial coaching talent and popularizing aerial disciplines in the region. The studio's offerings prominently feature aerial styles, with an emphasis on Sling-based training that incorporates progression-based fitness drills and sequential movements. MAYA Movement Arts also provides instruction in Acrobatic arts and offers private aerial dance lessons focusing on Sling (hammock) and Dance Trapeze, concentrating on strength building, transitions, safety, and fluidity. Beyond aerials, MAYA Movement Arts embraces comprehensive athletic and contemporary approaches to movement training. Classes at the CORE studio utilize specialized equipment like Balanced Body Allegro 2 Reformers, chairs, and jumpboards, offering Pilates instruction. The studio also centers its fitness experience around Lagree training, with intensive, low-impact resistance classes designed to challenge the body. Grippy socks are mandatory for all Lagree classes. Kelly's expertise extends to developing a comprehensive Sling teaching manual for teacher trainings. Impromptu class updates and extra shifts are often shared via the MAYA Instagram page, fostering an accessible and adaptable movement education for its community, aiming to foster strength and mobility through various disciplines.
