About Vermillion Area Dance Organization

The Vermillion Area Dance Organization (VADO), located in Vermillion, South Dakota, is a vibrant community hub dedicated to making dance accessible and enjoyable for all ages since its establishment in 2011. What began with thirty-five students and four instructors has blossomed into an expansive program, now boasting over forty classes taught by ten instructors serving two hundred students. VADO moved into its purpose-built studio in 2016, a testament to the community's dedication. The diverse curriculum offers a wide array of disciplines including the grace of Ballet, the rhythm of Tap and Jazz, the energy of Hip Hop, and the expressive storytelling of Contemporary dance. Students can also explore Ballroom, energetic Zumba sessions, and the exhilarating art of Aerial dance. For younger dancers, VADO introduces the fundamentals of movement and pre-ballet techniques. Dedicated instructors, including former professional ballerina and Executive Director Pam Ford, Studio Manager Audrey Job, and experienced teachers like Abby Lund and Adrienne Lewis, nurture talent across multiple disciplines. Jocelynn Bunkoske, a long-time VADO student, exemplifies the studio's commitment to student growth. VADO provides Dance Team opportunities in high kick, contemporary, pom, hip hop, and jazz, fostering a performance-oriented experience culminating in an annual Spring Recital at Vermillion High School. Specialized programs include adult Ballet and Hip Hop, and a class tailored for adults with special needs.
