Central Ballet School & Theatre, located in Greeneville, Tennessee, has been a cornerstone of the local arts community since its founding in September 2002 by Artistic Director Lori Ann Sparks. Under Mrs. Sparks's visionary leadership, the school has cultivated a strong emphasis on classical ballet, offering a diverse range of dance instruction for students of all ages and skill levels. Their comprehensive ballet program guides dancers from a creative introduction with pretend play for younger students to advanced classical ballet technique and pointe work. Recognizing the importance of broader dance education, Central Ballet School & Theatre also proudly offers Clogging classes, with specialized instruction from experienced instructors like Betty Ann Foulks. Students benefit from experienced faculty who guide them through barre and center work, building technique and artistry in a supportive environment. Further enriching the educational experience, master teachers from across the U.S. are brought in for summer intensives. Central Ballet Theatre, the area's sole ballet performance company, was established by Mrs. Sparks in January 2004. Mrs. Sparks, a recipient of the Outstanding Dance Educator Award, brings a wealth of experience as an artistic director, choreographer, and professional dancer, having trained under esteemed figures like Anna-Marie Holmes and Patricia Miller. The school has consistently produced talented dancers who have earned invitations to prestigious institutions such as Joffrey Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, showcasing their commitment to high-caliber dance education and providing opportunities for students to perform in original full-length ballets.
