About Elizabeth Williams School of Dance

Elizabeth Williams School of Dance, located in Sevierville, Tennessee, has been a cornerstone of dance education for over 40 years, founded in 1980 by Elizabeth and Ricky Williams. The studio offers a comprehensive range of dance styles for students of all ages, including Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap, Acrobatics, and Musical Theater. Our curriculum emphasizes technique, musicality, and artistic expression, fostering essential life skills such as self-confidence, poise, concentration, coordination, and rhythm. For young dancers, preschool and elementary combo classes focus on fundamental skills. The faculty, including Elizabeth Williams, Brittany Williams, Hannah Johnson, and Emily Fain-Lynch, brings a wealth of experience, with many instructors being former students who have achieved significant recognition. Beyond foundational training, the school boasts a strong pre-professional program, preparing students for careers in dance, teaching, or related fields, with students consistently accepted into prestigious summer intensives and university dance programs. Elizabeth Williams School of Dance also fosters a vibrant competitive program with multiple performing companies that have garnered numerous awards at regional and national competitions. Classes

Stretch Turn and Jump

A class designed primarily to work on flexibility and the execution of tricks, such as leaps and turns, that are used in various dance genres.

Adult Classes

Whether you are just beginning your dance journey or continuing and developing deeper into it, EWSD welcomes you. Contact the office for further details

Clogging

We strive to preserve the heritage of clogging and build contemporary clogging skills by taking a modern approach to the traditional style of clogging. We incorporate jazz, hip-hop, and challenging rhythmic artistic elements into our clogging style.

Tap

Tap dance uses sounds of metal taps affixed to the heel and toe of shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. These classes focus on exercises to increase control, coordination, and rhythm.

Tumbling

From forward rolls to backhand springs and tucks, the student learns the fundamentals of gymnastics, tumbling and acrobatics to use in cheer and dance. These classes are for floor work only, and we do not use bars and beams, etc.

Contemporary

Contemporary classes are an expressive style of dance that combines elements of jazz, lyrical, ballet and modern.

Hip Hop

This form of dance is based off of the high energy street dancing using today’s popular hip-hop and pop music. Great for building stamina.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a style of Dance that combines ballet and jazz techniques. It is performed to music with lyrics so that it encourages the expression of emotions.

Jazz

Our jazz classes are designed to focus on traditional and commercial jazz. They build strength, flexibility, and coordination, while developing confidence, musicality, and strength. It is recommended to take with a ballet class or a stretch turn and jump class.

Ballet/Pointe

Classical ballet classes gives students detailed knowledge of technique, alignment, terminology, musicality, and artistry. As the student progresses, they can advance to pointe work, which is determined at the teachers discretion.

Preschool and Elementary Combo Classes

These classes are designed to focus on the basic fundamentals and skills of dance, rhythm and timing, creativity and movement. Preschool classes are for ages 2-4 or 3-6 and run 30 min, 45 min, or 1 hour. Elementary combo classes run 1.5 hr and are for ages 6-10.
