The teen and adult classes offer the art of dance for beginners through intermediate and advanced levels. Whether the student is a teen, an adult beginner or is looking to return to dance, they will enjoy the many benefits of ballet which include improving posture and poise, sculpting and toning long, lean muscle, and helping to relieve stress. Attending ballet classes regularly will also enhance overall physical fitness, increase flexibility, strength, and balance.

Students in Ballet IV, V and VI have access to add to their training with other dance genres such as modern. Modern class is included in the base monthly tuition for levels IV, V and VI. This provides a well-rounded dance education and a progressive knowledge of additional dance styles.

Students experience a more structured class than the Creative Movement classes. Pre-Ballet is a transition class and develops a foundation for ballet technique and discipline. Ballet conduct, stretching, coordination exercises, and movement across the floor are augmented. In addition, use of the movement “plié”, stretching of the legs, pointed feet, and higher jumps are emphasized in a dynamic and fun environment.

Creative Movement I

Designed to introduce the youngest dancer to movement and musicality. Through age appropriate activities, students explore their imagination and creativity while developing both fine and gross motor skills. Basic classical ballet foundations are introduced such as ballet vocabulary, positions, body posture, stretching, and class etiquette.

Open Ballet (ages 8+)

This class meets twice per week during the regular nine-month performance season for a total of 2 hours, 30 minutes and includes Stretch and Conditioning. Open Ballet is intended for children ages 8 1/2 and up who wish to study ballet recreationally. No audition is required. This class is designed to introduce basic ballet skills to enhance posture, strength, and flexibility for students who are beginners and students who are returning to dance after a significant break.

During the summer, the Ballet Conservatory of South Texas provides a 6-week session with regular in-studio classes. This session is a perfect time for students to enhance the skills acquired during the Performance Season.
