Gerlisa's extensive competitive background, including World Championship qualifications and numerous North American and New England Championship placements, informs her teaching. She has trained with esteemed Irish dancers and performers, including original Riverdance cast member Deirdre Goulding and principal dancers James Greenan, Lauren Smyth, Ciara Sexton, and Aislinn Ryan, alongside renowned sean nós dancer Edwina Guckian, ensuring a rich learning experience. With a master's degree in education and recognition as a middle school teacher, Gerlisa fosters a safe, positive, and responsive learning environment. Her commitment to equity and innovation ensures every dancer can thrive, whether they are just beginning their journey or refining their skills. While not offering weekly classes this year, the studio continues its beloved monthly drop-in ceili classes, providing a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in traditional social dances from Ireland. These lively sessions, held at the Richmond Free Library, are accompanied by live Irish music, creating an authentic and joyous atmosphere perfect for all ages. Young dancers are welcome when accompanied by an adult, and modifications are readily available to ensure everyone can participate regardless of ability.
