Have successfully completed a year at the Apprentice level in ATAP. In order to enjoy the benefits of the program including tuition credit they must continue to meet program guidelines and responsibilities

ATAP members in their first year are Apprentices. They must fulfill all program obligations and are ineligible for the tuition credit feature of the program. Successful completion of one year as an Apprentice will make them eligible for consideration as an Assistant Teacher the following year.

Welcome to Journey Into Burlesque! Vie (they/them) facilitates adult classes inspired by the Art of Burlesque with choreography that will help you connect with the powerful and sexy dancer within yourself. The goal of every class is to create an uplifting and inclusive space for you to develop confidence, build a positive relationship with your body, and discover parts of yourself that desire to come out and play. This class is community building and VERY supportive! Vie is dedicated to helping others cultivate joy, explore sensuality through movement and the art of the Burlesque “tease”, celebrate diversity, and invite opportunities to explore imagination. Whether you are new to Burlesque or a seasoned performer, this is a fun opportunity to journey into the exciting world of Burlesque-style dance together.

Spotlight Vermont offers a selection of combination classes for our younger dancers, such as: Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Jazz, Ballet/Lyrical, Tap/Jazz, Contemporary Jazz/Tap, Creative/Ballet, Ballet/Modern Jazz, Ballet/Tap/Tumble, Street Jazz/Hip Hop, and More!!

Tap is a style of American dance involving percussive footwork and rhythms. Our tap classes stress the basics of tap (shuffle, dig, scuff, chug, etc.) while teaching musicality and rhythm. Try tap for fun and fitness. Our classes range from 3 years to adult with many different experience levels.

Jazz dance combines many styles and techniques, from ethnic and contemporary dance to ballet. Our jazz classes teach basic jazz dance combinations, terminology and style with an emphasis on proper technique, alignment and movement quality. These classes are great for all ages and are great fun too!

Get in tune with the basics of hip hop culture, music and movement in Spotlight Vermont’s hip hop classes. These classes start at eight years old and grow with the dancer into high school. Our hip hop classes are geared toward teaching students basic hip hop steps, beats, and rhythms such as poppin’, locking, and breaking, as well as freestyle movement.

Spotlight Vermont offers a range of contemporary, lyrical, and modern classes. These classes start at age seven following into adulthood. Contemporary and Modern dance are great additions to a dancer’s skillset because they go far beyond physical technique, exploring freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breathing, balance and contraction/release. Lyrical dancers find themselves leaning on their ballet and jazz technique but with a twist, allowing them to move with emotion in telling a story.

NYC or Broadway-style jazz teaches choreography and show-stopping stage presence. With a focus on learning song-and-dance numbers from various musical productions, past and present, Broadway or NYC Jazz is an excellent class for students interested in Musical Theater.

Ballet classes at Spotlight Vermont range from beginning ballet technique through pointe and variations for the more advanced ballet dancer. Each class starts with barre exercises followed by center and ballet combinations. Ballet is the foundation of almost all modern-day dance disciplines. Our instructors will be able to help you or your dancer choose a suitable ballet class for your level and experience.

Spotlight Theatre Academy offers a variety of classes for students interested in all aspects of live performing arts. Our regular Saturday afternoon program provides a rotating schedule of topics focused on theater, on camera, musical theater, voiceover, play and screenwriting, entertainment technology and much more.

Spotlight Vermont’s Assistant Teacher & Apprentice Program (ATAP) was established to provide our students with a similar path. Students will work side by side with a Spotlight faculty member once a week. In addition, students will be assigned to a class that is appropriate for their age, ability, and level of experience. Students will be selected after all student teacher applications have been reviewed. Our program runs from September to June. This internship program is free of charge to those who meet our guidelines and are selected for participation.

Intensive summer programs designed for dedicated dancers looking to enhance their skills and technique.

Musical theatre is the exciting art form of bringing stories to life through music, words and movement. Students will learn vocal, acting and movement technique, stage direction and character work, while exploring material from Broadway shows. This 12 week session will give students a chance to hone their singing and acting chops, while collaborating with other young performers, culminating in a final presentation.

Discover where relationships, stakes, and emotions live and how to unleash them. A 3-hour intensive of practical exercises for unlocking the body's natural expressivity. Through fun, freeing individual and group activities, participants will transform their relationship to effective, meaningful acting. Actors of all experience levels are welcome, and all are free to participate at their comfort level.
