Classes

Ballet Instructors

Ballet is one of the most popular dance genres at Lines. We are seeking an experienced instructor to join our team. We offer classes in Total Beginner to Advanced levels. Preference will be given to candidates who have received high-quality training at a professional or pre-professional level. Bonus points for those who have taken professional development in ballet instruction!

Aerial Instructors

We are seeking qualified instructors to join our growing aerial program! Preference will be given to candidates who have previous teaching experience. Applicable apparatuses: Silks, Lyra, Trapeze, Straps, Hammock. Rig & strike for class (this time is paid). Training on our rigging system will be provided, but candidates should have some familiarity with rigging and safety best practices. Instruct total beginner to intermediate (at least) level students on proper aerial technique and safety. Spot up to four students at a time on the apparatuses. Tailor your teaching style and curriculum to the students in class.

A fun introduction to movement in the air! We offer two 12-week series: one for children ages 6-8, one for pre-teens (9-12). Instructor Shara Crane lead students in an exploration of trapeze, silks, and aerial hoop. Movement work starts on the floor with the apparatuses at a low height, and children are invited to explore new frontiers as they feel comfortable. Safety is always top priority!

5-week series

Our 5-week series are designed to help those who are new to a specific genre of dance to explore it from the ground up. In a series, classes build on each other week-to-week, providing a sequential and in-depth introduction to technique and choreography.

Musical Theater Song & Dance

Throughout this 6-week series, children will get an introduction to the art of singing, dancing, and acting…all at the same time! Through a combination of creative movement and acting games, exploratory vocal exercises, and an introduction to basic musical theater jazz steps, children will get a taste of what it means to tell a story on the musical theater stage. Children will also learn choreography and lyrics to two different musical theater songs, culminating with an informal performance for their grown-ups at the end of the final class. Costumes welcome in each class! Youngest students should turn 5 by the first class.

Itty Bitty Ballet series

A 5-week introduction to musicality and expressive movement for dancers ages three to five! Through imaginative guided movement exercises, students are given an avenue to develop a sense of rhythm, practice moving with different dynamics, and explore emotive expression through movement and gesture. Classes will also help the dancers gain spatial awareness and focus. Itty Bitty Ballet is designed to be developmentally appropriate for young children, with an end goal of giving kiddos a confidence-boosting love of dance! Please note that there is no recital for Itty Bitty Ballet.

Primary Ballet series

No prior dance experience is required for this 6-week course! This class is appropriate for students who are ready for a more structured approach to ballet than Itty Bitty. Classes emphasize rhythm, dynamics, presentation, and very basic ballet terminology and placement. Students will gain an understanding of spatial awareness, correct alignment, teamwork, and focus. Please note that there is no recital for Primary Ballet. For this level, the youngest students should turn 5 by September 1st, and the oldest students should still be 7 by December 31st, 2023.

Calling all KPop Demon Hunters fans, ages 6-8! Learn to dance like Huntrix in this 6-week series! Kids will get a basic introduction to the genre of K-pop, learning the style's foundational technique and artistry. They will also learn the choreography shown in the KPop Demon Hunters movie! This series gives kids a chance to explore their performance persona, gain confidence, and have fun moving their bodies to music!

A one-week, half-day arts camp for kiddos ages 5-7 who love movement and music! This camp meets Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 12 PM. Daily schedule: 8:30-9:15 AM - Ballet class 9:15-9:30 AM - Snack 9:30-10:15 AM - Live music with a musician - singing & movement 10:15-11 AM - Jazz/Contemporary/Hip Hop class 11 AM - 12 PM - Art project (costume making, etc.).

Offered as single day and week-long camps! This camp features a rockstar line-up of professional circus/aerial instructors and performers: Rob Crites, Jenn Berry, Shara Crane, Maia Castro-Santos, and Ivan Jermyn give kids ages 6-8 and 9-12 a fun, safe, low-risk introduction to the world of aerial and circus arts! Classes include: Acrobatics Aerial Silks Trapeze Hula Hoops Clowning Physical theater Feather balancing Spinning plates Juggling scarves Low tight wire Bucket stilts Unicycles Each day, children take three classes (one aerial, one circus skills, one acrobatics/other), with a break for snack or lunch. Children are fully supervised during all camp hours.
