Technique

In this class students will work on their physical ability in dance. Stretching, turns, leaps, and vocabulary are the main focus of this class.

Tap

Tap is one of the oldest dance forms in this country. Students are taught rhythms, timing, and leg/foot coordination done to various types of music. We focus mostly on show tap (which is broadway style) but we do integrate the more modern rhythm tap too.

Pointe

Dancing end pointe, is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard-to-ed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill. Students will need to be invited by the Ballet Mistress to be allowed to go en pointe and then they will need a doctor’s note for approval. Some of the work in pointe class will still be pre-pointe work so the feet and ankles will remain healthy.

Pre-Ballet

Basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through creative movement, music, and mime in a supportive and supervised environment.

Musical Theatre

The upbeat classes teach Broadway-style choreography, show-stopping stage presence, and acting, with a focus on learning song-and-dance numbers from a variety of musical productions, past and present.

Jazz

This class covers the basic steps, vocabulary, and variations of dance in jazz, which is a common form of dance used in musical theater and commercial and entertainment industries. Students learn basic techniques based on ballet and modern dance. Through warm-ups and exercises, students gain strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. Musicality and performance skills are taught through a series of dance combinations.

Hip Hop

In this class students will demonstrate hip-hop dance skills through warm-ups and choreographed routines. This class will also explore the culture and music of hip-hop and other related styles of dance such as locking, popping, and other club dance styles.

Creative Movement

This class is dedicated to students just starting in dance that are 3&4 years old. They will learn proper classroom technique, how to work in a group, basic dance moves, coordination, and the proper names for dance terms.

Ballet

The base of all forms of dance, Ballet technique consists of stylized and controlled movements and positions, which develops ultimate strength and flexibility. Ballet is beneficial at any age, and is safe form of exercise and building strength. We strongly encourage all of our students enrolled in more than one form of dance to study ballet, as the technique is found in every dance class.
