JPB Ballet Company is the pre-professional ballet company at Northwest School of Dance. The purpose of the company is to help dancers who are serious about ballet to focus on their skills and technique and prepare them for future professional opportunities. Membership into JPB is by invitation only and is only for those dancers who demonstrate a high work ethic, a more serious interest in and ability specifically for ballet.

STRECH & STRENGTH FITNESS

Class focuses on conditioning and stretching specific to the needs of dancers. Includes, but is not limited to, cardio exercises, body sculpting, core strengthening, and safe stretching techniques.

Adult Tap

These classes are designed with the adult in mind, to develop rhythm, style and sound. Emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun!

Adult Hip-Hop

An introduction for adult dancers to hip hop movement and choreography. Lessons and exercises will introduce dancers to isolations, grooves, levels, footwork and more. Lots of fun!

Adult Ballet

A positive, encouraging environment is created for adults with little to no experience to explore the art of Ballet. Dancers are given options to work at their appropriate levels.

Teen Tap

Students will focus on developing rhythmic ability, tap sounds and skills, and learning tap vocabulary and choreography.

Teen Jazz

Teen students will focus on developing jazz abilities, including proper stretching, jazz technique & terminology based on classic jazz fundamentals and contemporary jazz styles, along with turns, leaps, and combinations.

Teen Lyrical

A fusion of Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary dance, which encourages students to explore dancing the story of the music and lyrics. Taught at an appropriate level for the Teen (or Pre-teen) dancer.

Teen Hip-Hop

Learn the latest in hip-hop and street dance trends. Class includes a warm-up and age appropriate dance combinations.

Teen Ballet

Classes begin with conditioning to build muscle awareness and proper body alignment. Students use the ballet barre, French terminology and ballet technique. Accuracy, proper technique and strength are reinforced, as the upper body movements begin to coordinate with legs, feet and music.

Boys C / D

An Intermediate to Advanced level class, for boys roughly ages 11 to 14yrs. At this level, students should have several years’ experience in boy’s classes or other similar style training. (Beginning boys ages 11 and up should enroll in Teen Hip Hop).

Boys A / B

A Beginner to Intermediate level class, for boys roughly ages 7-10 years old. This is an appropriate level for those with no prior experience, or a year or two of previous boy’s classes or other similar style training.

Stretch & Strength Fitness

Prerequisite: Students must be ballet C or higher. Class focuses on conditioning and stretching specific to the needs of dancers. Includes, but is not limited to, cardio exercises, body sculpting, core strengthening, and safe stretching techniques.

Leveled Program – Beg. through Adv. training for ages 7yrs & up

All classes in the levelled program have a syllabus designed to build and progress the dancer forward, each level building on the previous one. Beginning level classes start at Level A, B, C, and progress through intermediate levels D, E, F, G, then continue on to Advanced levels H, I, J, K.

Pre-Hip Hop

For students ages 6 1/2-9years. A fun, energetic introduction to Hip Hop. Basic class skills and fundamentals are taught through movement exercises and routines.

Pre-Tap

Typically for students ages 6 ½-9 years. These classes are built as a stepping stone to secede the Combo Classes and designed to prepare the young student to move in to leveled classes. Curriculum includes beginning level Tap technique, fundamentals and terminology.

First Steps/Intro Program

Designed for ages 18 months to 3 years. A fun, creative introduction to the world of dance. Classes are taught with age appropriate, interactive music, and includes creative play and dance games/activities, and also helps children learn the structure of a dance class and follow basic instructions.

Acro

Pre-requisite. Must also be enrolled in a Ballet or Jazz class (any level). Taught by a certified Acrobatic Arts instructor. The Acrobatic Arts program is based on safe and effective progressions focusing on Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling.

Adult classes

Boys classes

While all studio classes are open to boys, the Boys Classes are geared specifically for boys. Most classes are taught with an emphasis in hip hop and jazz funk styles, with the exception of the Boys Ballet Technique class.

Combo

For students age 3-6 years. A fun, positive, beginning level class focusing on a combination of Ballet & Tap styles, taught through creative movement and imaginative play. Classes help establish balance, coordination, musicality and learning dance vocabulary and terminology.
