Upper Level Classes

Experienced adults may drop-in to upper level classes with permission. We offer classes for all ages and abilities to continue dancing through the Summer.

Private Lessons

Contact us for details about individual or group private lessons. Private lessons are scheduled based on the instructor’s and interested student(s) availability. Private lessons can be weekly, bi-weekly and offered in the morning or the afternoon.

Island Rec Beginning Adult Ballet

Salish Sea Ballet in partnership with Island Rec is excited to be offering a Beginning Adult Ballet class. This adult class will be for all skill levels wanting to try ballet for the first time and/or those looking to get back to ballet after some time away. Classes will be taught by Kailey Genther, studio owner and teacher for Salish Sea Ballet. Each class will move slowly, building upon the previous class to make sure you have a solid foundation. With your skills acquired each class will also have fun experiencing and exploring the world of ballet beyond the dance steps. We hope you will take a chance and come dance with us at Salish Sea Ballet! Salish Sea Ballet Salish Sea Ballet truly believes that dance is for everyone! Participants must wear active clothing (leotard, tights, skirts are optional) and purchase the mandatory full-sole leather ballet slippers. Hair must be pulled back off the face, and please bring a full water bottle.

Musical Theater Dance

Salish Sea Ballet is excited to offer a brand-new Musical Theater Dance Class for ages 12-18 years old. This class is designed for aspiring Musical Theater students who want to develop skills and build confidence in dance for the stage, workshops, and auditions. This class will be co-taught by Kailey Genther and Lisa Duke and alternate every week between Ballet and Jazz, starting with Ballet. Each class builds progressively, reinforcing skills and introducing new techniques every week. This class will culminate in a live demonstration for friends and family, allowing students to showcase the technique and choreography they’ve worked on. Students are required to have jazz shoes and wear activewear attire. Their hair must be off their face, and they need to bring a filled water bottle to class.

Pre-Pointe/Pointe

Join us for strength and conditioning for dancers in preparation for pointe work or continuing their beginning/intermediate pointe work. This class includes Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) exercises to improve muscle memory, core strength and alignment. Dancers must be at Level 3 or higher to enroll. Instructor permission is required. This class performs in our year end recital on stage. Adult drop-ins are allowed if space permits.

Ballet Level 4

This class meets twice a week, and students are expected to attend both classes. Most students also take our Pre-Pointe/Pointe class each week to round out their training. This class is Intermediate/Advanced ballet for dancers with significant ballet experience. Dancers must be promoted from Level 3 or audition if they are new to the studio. Besides working on enhancing each dancer’s understanding of ballet technique and terminology, we also continue to work on their artistry to create a whole dancer. This class performs in our year end recital on stage. Adult drop-ins are allowed if space permits. New students, please contact us to schedule a placement class.

In Level 3, we build upon the skills learned in Level 2. New skills are learned in a student’s first year of level 3 and improved upon in subsequent years. Dancers are progressively challenged each year at this level. Level 3 students continue to master skills while acquiring new ones to prepare for Level 4. We also begin to work on each dancer’s artistry while ensuring that they understand ballet terminology and direction of travel. This class performs in our year end recital on stage. Ballet Level 1

Level 1 teaches dancers the foundations of classical ballet in a fun and creative environment. Dancers begin to work at the ballet barre as well as in the center. This class performs in our year end recital on stage.

Pre-Ballet

This class is a creative movement and introduction to ballet class for dancers ages 4.5-6. A fun and engaging way to work on coordination, balance, flexibility, musicality, and more! Dancers must be comfortable attending class on their own for a full hour of activity. This class performs in our year end recital on stage.

Creative Movement II

For Dancers ages 3-5 years old. This class is a continuation of our Creative Movement series, which will include participation from your preschooler and their parent/guardian. Join us in continuing to learn how our bodies move, explore music, and learn basic dance skills. Parent/Guardian will participate with their child.

Creative Movement I

For dancers ages 2-3 years old. A fun and creative introduction to dance and body movement for a parent/guardian and their toddler/Preschooler! In this class you will work together with your child to develop beginning dance skills and improve coordination. The Parent/Guardian will be participating with their child.

Begining Adult Ballet

This is a new class offering for adults 18+ who are interested in learning ballet. It focuses on foundational ballet techniques and movements suitable for beginners.
