We foster a positive and uplifting atmosphere, empowering students to build confidence and self-worth while mastering proper dance technique. Our diverse range of classes caters to all ages, from our Tiny Dancers (4-5 years) to advanced students. Explore your passion in styles including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acrobatic (Tumbling), and Musical Theater. Led by Owner and Director Sara Sanders, our expert instruction is provided by dedicated teachers such as Maddie Davis, Hallie Earnest, Kaitlyn Kincaid, Iris Sanders, Milly Sarysz, and Sara Mittleider. Many of our instructors are former students, bringing a unique understanding of our studio's legacy. Sara Mittleider, for instance, returns as an acrobatics teacher, eager to share the strength and confidence she gained here. Higher Ground Dance Studio provides a fun, safe, and inspiring space for dancers to develop their skills and prepare for life through the art of dance. For those seeking advanced training and performance opportunities, our Performing Company classes are available, with placement determined by audition or pre-approval. Classes

Higher Ground Dance Studio

Here at Higher Ground we focus on the dancer’s well being and development first. By Creating a positive and uplifting atmosphere, dancers can build their confidence and self worth. Our dancers learn proper dance technique for a fun and safe dance experience that will prepare them for life!

Performing Company Classes

Combo classes

We also offer a variety of Combo classes to give your dancer the opportunity to learn other dances styles at the same time.

Musical Theater

Generally a character based jazz style while dancing where a story is being told, like a musical or a broadway production.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a fusion of Ballet and Jazz. It is generally slower, with fluid movements and has emotion involved. Some experience in Jazz and Ballet are recommended.

Hip Hop

Derived from Jazz, Hip Hop has developed into its own genre with its own styles and technique. These styles will be taught to age appropriate music for a fun Hip Hop experience.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dance. Students will learn basic principals of classical Ballet along with proper body placement, turnout and terminology.

Acro

A part of gymnastics only using floor work. Forward rolls, back rolls, cartwheels, brides, back walkovers, front walk overs and more are taught with careful attention to technique and safety.

Jazz

Aside from Ballet, Jazz is where you get more of your technical training. You will learn proper stretching and strengthening techniques for a safe Jazz experience. We reserve the right to teach you steps and styles depending on your level of dance.

Tap

Our classes combine classical and contemporary tap styles to create a fun and energetic class that teaches the basic fundamental musical rhythms. Tap vocabulary and proper progression of steps are the focus of this dance form.

Private lessons
$40.00

Private lessons need to be paid at the time of the lesson. Taking a private lesson does not guarantee a performance in our recitals. Tuition is non-refundable.

Acro classes

Attire includes leotard, dance pants or shorts for girls. Boys wear pants, long shorts, t-shirts. Non-binary dancers can choose attire that makes them comfortable. No tights or shoes. No jeans, excessive midriffs, dresses, skirts, tennis shoes, or loose fitting clothing.

Hip Hop classes

Attire includes dance pants, shorts, sweats, fitted t-shirts, and tank tops for girls. Boys wear pants, long shorts, and t-shirts. Non-binary dancers can choose attire that makes them comfortable. White clean tennis shoes that are to only be worn in the studio. No jeans, excessive midriffs, dresses, skirts, or loose fitting clothing.

Tap classes

Attire includes leotard, dance pants, shorts, fitted sweats, fitted t-shirts, tank tops for girls. Boys wear pants, long shorts, t-shirts, and black tap shoes. Non-binary dancers can choose attire that makes them comfortable. Tap shoes are to only be worn in the studio and are not to be from Payless or Target. No jeans, excessive midriffs, dresses, skirts, tennis shoes, or loose fitting clothing.

Ballet classes

Boys wear black pants, white t-shirt, black socks, and black ballet slippers. Non-binary dancers can choose attire that makes them comfortable. Girls wear leotards and pink tights. Leotard colors are specific to the class (Tiny Tutus-Light Pink, Level 1-Light Purple, Level 2-Light Blue, Level 3-Purple, PrePointe-Red, Beg Pointe-Navy Blue, Pointe-Free Choice) or black leotards. Ballet skirts are optional but must be approved. Pink leather ballet slippers with a full sole are required for Tiny Tutus through Level 3. PrePointe and Pointe dancers can use pink leather split sole ballet slippers. Hair must be securely off the face in a ponytail or bun.

Attire includes leotard, dance pants or shorts, and tan jazz shoes for girls. Boys should wear pants, long shorts, t-shirts, and black jazz shoes. Non-binary dancers can choose attire that makes them comfortable. No jeans, excessive midriffs, dresses, skirts, tennis shoes, or loose fitting clothing.
