About Port Angeles City Ballet

Port Angeles City Ballet (PACB), located in Port Angeles, Washington, is a cornerstone of classical performing arts on the Olympic Peninsula. Established on the legacy of Ballet Workshop Productions, founded in 1970 by Sylvia Joyce Wanner, PACB continues to uphold a rich tradition of excellence in ballet. The Sylvia Joyce Wanner School, its official pre-professional ballet training academy, offers rigorous programming for students aged 3-18. Under the directorship of Kate M. Robbins, the academy nurtures young talent with a curriculum rooted in the Marca Dale Weary syllabus, incorporating introductions to Vaganova and French styles in senior years. Beyond classical ballet technique, students train in Character Dance, Pointe work, Men’s and Women’s Variations, and Pas de Deux. The studio also provides training in Modern dance, led by Modern Director Kayla Oakes, and Tap, directed by Anna Pederson. The faculty includes Ballet faculty Tiffany Gillespie and Gabriella Cuhna, and Pilates Director Libby Scofield. Noah Long serves as Stager Emeritus and Director of Productions and Boys Program, bringing extensive expertise in classical repertoire. PACB students gain invaluable stage experience performing in full-length productions like "The Nutcracker" and "Sleeping Beauty," often featuring guest artists from renowned national ballet companies such as Los Angeles Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre. The organization is dedicated to bringing the magic of classical and contemporary dance to the community, celebrating the history and beauty of the Olympic Mountains region through the art of dance.
