Derry always thought that dancing is one of those cultured things that one should learn. In 2000 (Y2K), he was attending junior college at WVC and discovered that the Hepcat Swing Dance Club had just started on campus and so he went to their first meetup, at which they were demonstrating the Lindy Hop (an ironically UNcultured dance haha). It looked insane and everyone seemed to be having a blast so he was hooked. Swing dance is his first love, but after a six month stint in Buenos Aires, Tango is a close second. Since then he has danced all over the world and taught for over ten years here in the Wenatchee valley. Apart from the love of dance, he sees the power it has to positively change people's lives by getting them out of the house and interacting through authentic connections both on and off the dance floor.

Qigong

The practice of both seems to bring me into a state of grace. I've been sharing these meditative art forms with others for two decades now. Qigong is super easy to learn and with 95% of the same benefits of Tai Chi. Both classes will still the mind, improve balance, strength, flexibility, posture, and increase joy and clarity in one's life.

Anna found Lindy Hop here in Wenatchee in the year 2000 and has been having a blast ever since. She has passionately studied Lindy Hop, Blues, Balboa, and other related dances originating in the 1920s-40s and has had the privilege of training with many legends of this art form. She has contributed to many dance communities across the Pacific Northwest as a teacher, DJ, organizer, promoter, and performer for many workshops and exchanges over the years and is thrilled to come home to share the joy that is swing dance with her community. She believes that anyone can dance and that dancing brings communities together to authentically connect through movement, music, history, and fun. Tai Chi, "Stillness through Movement"
$25.00

In this class I'll be teaching the Yang 24 Short Form. It is the most widely known form here in this country and I'm guessing through out the globe. It has essentially the same purpose and effect as Qigong in cultivating one's innate energy (Chi). The only difference is that we tie together each movement to the next, eventually creating a beautiful dance, one could say. Once the complete "dance" is learned, it only takes five to ten minutes to complete, depending on how fast or slow you choose to practice it. We will start with a few easy warm-up exercises, then we'll learn a few Qigong movements. This will set the tone for the " main event " Tai Chi. Each movement will be shown in a soft unhurried way, and plenty of time to practice. Once the body has learned the movement through repetition and the mind being in a focused observing state, you will enter into a state of grace, where the mind is still and a subtle flow of energy (Chi) is felt and enjoyed. I could say more, but I should stop here and let you experience it for yourself. I'm looking forward to meeting each of you, and practicing this beautiful meditative art forms together. Peace,

Qigong "Stillness through Movement"
$20.00

In this class you will be learning the 21 movements of a form of Qigong called Tai Chi Chau. Of the six different forms of Qigong that I have learned and practiced, this one is my favorite because it seems to get the flow of energy (Qi) within the body, moving more quickly than others I've learned. There for receiving the full benefit more quickly. We'll start with a few warm-up exercises. Then jump right into the first movement. I'll show you one movement at a time allowing plenty of practice before moving on to the next movement. Each movement is simple, easy to learn and has the potential to cultivate the innate energy (Qi) within each of us. This practice is not only fun, but can be life changing in the sense of both mental and physical health. So please join us for this non-competitive, low impact, safe, social and fun class that just might change your life for the better. And who doesn't want that?
