Circle Dance
free ($5 donation to Dance Life suggested. Please register for this event on Vagaro so we know how many people to expect!

Join us for Circle Dance, a new monthly free event! Bodies are meant to move! Come celebrate with like-minded individuals and spend an hour on the 4th Fridays at 7pm at Dance Life. We'll gather in a circle, clapping and dancing improvisationally. Individuals and small groups are then welcome to improvise in the center while the circle members support joyously by clapping, hollering, and keeping the beat. All bodies, abilities, and skill levels are welcome. Music selections will vary and will be open to suggestions. No one will be forced to dance in the center of the circle. Come dance and support the Dance Life Community, and enjoy an hour of joyous dancing!

Burlesque Variety

This is a sultry burlesque class for those who love variety as they joyfully move their body! Drop into this class anytime as we explore a new theme each week of the month. The themes (which are the the same each month) are as follows: - Slow n Sensual (1st and 3rd Monday of the Month): Take a step back from the hustle, slow down, and reconnect with yourself and your body. This class features slow movement and helps you befriend your body through intentional self-touch and body appreciation. - 80s/90s/00s (2nd Monday of the Month): This class features music from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s and we’ll add our touch of flare by dancing to the nostalgic playlist with burlesquey moves. - Cover Songs (4th Monday of the Month): This class features covers of popular and familiar songs from all different genres where, again, we’ll add our special touch by dancing to them with burlesquey moves. - Class Choice (5th Monday of the Month As Applicable): Those who attend this class will vote on which of the 3 themes they would like to do for this class (Slow n Sensual, 80s/90s/00s, or Cover Songs). Fishnets are highly encouraged, but not required; so, you can come as you are, wearing whatever makes you feel sexy, confident, or comfortable. If you like follow-along dance fitness classes with great playlists, you’ve got to give Ballet Fitness a shot! With an emphasis on muscle conditioning and core engagement, ballet fitness will help build stronger muscles, increase endurance and strengthen your core, all while making you feel like a warrior. Expect to start class with a set of ballet stretches, then work into movement combos including 2nd position plies, arabesques, etc and elevation combos (kicks, plies, etc), with the second half of the class focusing on strengthening floor work on a mat. Wrist/ankle weights optional. No ballet or dance experience required to attend this class!

WERQ with Min

Our WERQ classes aren’t like any other! This fiercely fun class features a variety of dance styles from pop and jazz to hip hop and even a touch of burlesque, an upbeat and current playlist, and dance moves that will put you at the center of the stage. You're guaranteed a great workout without even knowing you're doing it, in a space that safe for all bodies to move and have fun! Adaptations to movements are offered for different levels of mobility and desired intensity, and different styles of dance moves are offered as well. As a baseline, Min’s class is a higher intensity class, and Sia’s class is lower intensity. You'll have the opportunity to create your own adventure each week, and have a class perfectly suited for YOUR body! Min, the instructor for the Thursday class, is caring and encouraging with her students, friendly, fun, and has the most contagious smile and positive energy! She'll lead you with a warm up to prepare your body, where you will also see a preview of moves to come in future songs on the playlist. The first two songs are low-impact, and then the intensity increases from medium to high. We dance through a few songs at high intensity, shaking, sweating, and smiling! Then the class concludes with a yoga-inspired cooldown. Min changes up her music regularly, with 2-3 new songs being offered each week.

This workshop blends modern dance with expressive movement to create a space where your body feels safe, playful, and free. We’ll begin each week with somatic-inspired exercises designed to reset the nervous system, release tension, and remind us that movement can be both therapeutic and fun. I’ll share simple choreography as inspiration, but you’ll always be free to explore the movements in ways that feel natural and comfortable in your own body. Together, we’ll use music as a tool for expression and emotional release. Each song will be worked on over 4–6 weeks, giving you time to grow confident and connected with the movement. Every other month, the class will help choose the next song, building trust, community, and creativity together. Whether you’re new to dance or experienced, this class welcomes all movers who want to explore expression, connection, and the joy of simply being in motion. Tendu your best foot forward and join Andrea for an hour of ballet! We’re all about having fun and dancing to non-traditional songs. Join us for all of the grace and none of the body shaming typical for this style of dance! This class is good for all body types, and adaptations are offered for injuries or those with limited mobility. Over the course of two months, we learn progressive technique and ballet terminology. Half of the class is spent at the barre, and the second half of class covers the move of the week and a mini combo. This series builds from week to week, though you can begin at any time in the session.

Do you have a body? Would you like to appreciate what it can do in a room full of welcoming, accepting people all moving to the sound of fun, sexy music? Then celebrate the joyful return of that Dance Life favorite, Burlesque Fitness…also known as “follow the bouncing butt.” Rather than learning a single routine, the goal of this class is to keep moving for the full 45 minutes. Like Zumba or line-dancing (or heck, Jazzercise), Burlesque Fitness features a set of dance moves that the instructor calls out during the music. We begin with a slow-paced warmup song that introduces most of the moves, and then Charleston and shimmy our way through a mixture of faster-paced and slow/sultry songs, ending with a cooldown. The routine is the same every week, so the more you come, the better you’ll know the choreography. To keep the class challenging, new songs or additional arm work will be incorporated down the line, depending on class wishes. Note: For 2023, the Burlesque Fitness choreography has been slightly adjusted to be a little gentler on the joints and heart rate than the pre-pandemic version of this class...which makes it a perfect time to try it out. Don’t worry about messing up or not knowing the moves—like all Dance Life classes, this one is about feeling sexy and powerful in whatever body you bring to the studio. Jazz shoes or bare feet are recommended. Since this is a burlesque class, feel free to wear athletic clothes or fishnets, scrunchies or cat eyeliner—or be like your instructor and go for a combination of all of the above. Just make sure to have a water bottle handy.

Step away from the mirror and get into Livin' Large Dance Party- a weekly celebration of joyful movement and body positivity! This dance fitness class is designed with large bodies in mind, though any and all body types are warmly welcomed. This class is fat positive, silly, empowering, and FUN! If you need a weekly dose of serotonin, you’re in the right place. We start out with a warm up and a quick demo of the steps used later in class, and then proceed through our playlist full of bangers. We finish with a cool down, and a stretch that’s accessible for all levels of flexibility and mobility! Sit down or rest whenever you need to, and pick the intensity level that’s right for you. High-five for self care! We are firm believers in the tenets of Health At Every Size, and we never focus on or talk about weight loss or “body transformations”. We believe joyful movement is the best movement to participate in, for anyone who feels like they want that in their life. We celebrate body diversity, and honor differences in size, age, race, ethnicity, gender, dis/ability, sexual orientation, religion, class, and other human attributes. We’re all about finding the joy in moving one’s body and being physically active in a safe and welcoming environment. This class can be done standing or seated- the owner of Dance Life, Arielle, has fibromyalgia and has done this class seated many times, and can attest that it’s just as fun either way!

In this intermediate level class, we ramp up the technique and pace of the Belly Dance Fundamentals class so we can explore even more beautiful and fun dance styles. We learn a routine or a concept over the course of4-6 weeks, and then review it all at the end. This class is meant to be taken after the Belly Dance Fundamentals course, as we talk about more challenging movements, patterns, and ideas about how movements are executed. Led by an enthusiastic and funny mother-daughter teaching team,this class delves into an array of different Middle Eastern dance forms including beledi, shaabi, Turkish Oryantal, modern Egyptian, fusion, and so much more. Dig deeper into the cultural legacy of this beautiful art form while keeping your body moving, and learn a new dance over the course of about a month!
