About Storybook Ballet

Storybook Ballet, located in Madison, Wisconsin, invites young dancers on a magical journey into the world of movement. Founded in 2000 by former professional ballerina Meredith Mast, who brings over 45 years of combined experience in performing, studying, and teaching classical ballet, the studio is dedicated to nurturing a deep love for dance. Meredith Mast's signature Storybook Ballet™ program, designed for ages 3-9, artfully blends fundamental ballet technique with imaginative storytelling, costumes, and props, creating an enchanting learning environment. Storybook Ballet offers a non-competitive atmosphere where children can discover the beauty and artistry of ballet, fostering a lifelong appreciation for this graceful art form. Their curriculum is meticulously designed to build upon the fundamentals of classical ballet technique across distinct age divisions. The Petite Division (ages 2-3.5) focuses on coordination and etiquette, while the Children's Division (ages 3-6) immerses young dancers in stories. The PreBallet Division (ages 5.5-7) and Ballet 1 & 1B (ages 7-10) further refine classical technique, emphasizing body mechanics, musicality, and theatrical qualities. Storybook Ballet also provides instruction in contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, and tap. The studio benefits from a talented team of instructors, including Maelanie Kuzma with extensive ballet training and studio ownership experience for The Second Story Program, Abbi Stickels pursuing a BFA in dance, Grace Burley with a strong background in classical ballet and professional performance, and Katie Pratt aspiring to a professional career in contemporary dance.
