Nestled in the heart of Cody, Wyoming, The Dance Store is a vibrant hub for aspiring dancers of all ages. This studio offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to foster a lifelong love of movement and artistry. The Annual Spring Production is TWO great nights of dance entertainment brought to you by all our RMSA students and RMDT's Spring Company. Both nights feature tap, hip hop, jazz, contemporary ballet, musical theatre, modern, and contemporary dance styles set to great music and lighting. This is definitely not a "spring recital" but a professional live performance that will keep all ages entertained!

The Nutcracker Ballet

Rocky Mountain Dance Theatre's 28th Annual full-length production of The Nutcracker Ballet set to Tchaikovsky's famous score. Choreography, sets, and lighting are all original, led by professionals in their field. Along with a large cast of performers from our local community and surrounding areas, RMDT is proud to announce the return of Randy Pacheco for his 7th year as guest artist. Soloists with Ballet Arizona, Randy will be performing the role of Cavalier, dancing the Grand Pas with RMDT/RMSA’s very own Alumni Jessica McNeil as Sugar Plum Fairy.

Academy 5 | 4 h 45 min per week

Intermediate-Advance Academies are for the serious dancer only and acceptance is based on a student’s knowledge both physically and mentally, along with technical foundation.

Academy 4B | NO Ac 4B 2025-2026

Academy 4B is designed for students 11 years and older with 7-9 years of dance experience. Each dancer is evaluated individually for Academy 4b. This Academy is for the more serious dancer and is the final level offered to dancers before they move into pre-advanced placement.

Academy 4 | 3 h 45 min per week

Academy 4 is designed for students 11 years and older with 6-8 years of dance experience. Each dancer is evaluated individually for Academy 4. This Academy program offers students five dance disciplines: Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Tap.

Academy 3B | 3 h 45 min per week

This Academy is designed for 4th to 6th grade intermediate dancers, with 5-7 years of dance training recommended. This Academy program offers students five different dance disciplines: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary.

Academy 3 | 3 h 45 min per week

This Academy is designed for 3rd to 5th grade intermediate dancers, with 4-6 years of dance training recommended. This Academy program offers students five different dance disciplines: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary.

Academy 2B | 2 h 15 min per week

Academy 2B is designed for 2nd -4th grade intermediate dancers, with 3-4 years of dance training recommended. Students spend approximately two -three years in Academy 2B.

Academy 2 is designed for 2nd or 3rd grade intermediate dancers, with 3 years of dance training recommended. The Academy program offers students four different dance disciplines: ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop.

Masterpieces of Ballet

Masterpieces of Ballet is a full-length professional ballet production, produced at an equivalent level to RMDT's Christmas Nutcracker, but focusing on segments of or entire classical ballet stories. The variations and choreography performed by our soloists is the same that was danced by the original ballet production and as it is by professional ballet companies still today!

RMSA’s 3/4 year old dance class is a fun, all-around introduction to dance for 3-4 year olds. Children in this class develop loco-motor skills, learn rhythm, and how to behave in a structured dance class environment.

29th Annual Nutcracker Audition Info

Nonprofit, RMDT’s Annual Production of The Nutcracker offers members of the community, of all ages, an opportunity to participate in and contribute to a classical theatre experience, at the same time providing education in ballet and theatre techniques, academic knowledge, self-discipline, self-confidence, and artistic expression. In an atmosphere of encouragement and acceptance, The Nutcracker provides experience and interaction with peers as well as professionals in dance and theatre, such as lighting & stage experts and guest artists from the likes of Ballet Arizona, New York City Ballet, Julliard, and the Suzanne Farrell Company of Washington DC. Since its first production in 1997, The RMDT Nutcracker is the only performance in the area which this type of exposure to the arts is afforded to our youth. The cast and crew work hard to ensure that The Nutcracker is of professional grade and entertaining for the community to enjoy.

NEW! Tween & Teen Beginners (age 11+)
Tuition is $50 per month; September, October, November

At RMSA, we believe everyone can discover the joy of dance. RMSA’s Tween & Teen Dance Methods Class is for beginners who have never danced or haven't danced in a few years. This is a NEW class being offered that will be one 1.5 class a week, covering 4 disciplines (ballet, jazz, hip hop & contemporary), over 10 weeks.
