Technique Training

Technique Training is a specialized lesson that focuses on skills that the individual dancer wishes to improve. This could include turn technique, leaps, flexibility, etc.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT)

PBT stands for Progressing Ballet Technique. PBT is a conditioning program that has been designed specifically for dancers. PBT uses muscle memory to improve core stability, weight placement, stimulate the posture, and alignment. This class uses equipment to help develop an understanding of your body in space whilst strengthening your ballet technique. All of the PBT exercises are done with music, so the dancer’s musicality is kept and enhanced. Early training is essential for the student to feel and develop the correct movement patterns by activating the correct muscles.

Technique & Conditioning

This class consists of various drills and exercises used to improve technique. This class includes stretching and strength conditioning. As well as improving extension, turns, and leaps, working both the right and left sides equally. Younger students will focus on basic drills, while exercises will gradually increase in difficulty as students become more advanced. The goal of the class is to break down the steps learned in other classes and perfect them. This class is designed to improve the overall ability of the student in all forms of dance.

Hip Hop

Hip hop encompasses a wide range of styles including breaking, locking, popping and more. This class specifically focuses on developing rhythm and coordination while encouraging individual style. Our Hip Hop classes are broken into three different levels (based on age and/or skill level) .

Acro Dance/Tumbling

The Acro Dance class will be split into several sections based on age and skill level. This class assignment is determined by the instructor. Acro is a style of dance that combines dance technique training with precision acrobatic elements, while increasing flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline, body awareness, coordination and concentration.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a style that combines ballet, acro, and jazz dancing techniques. This style concentrates on an individual approach and expressiveness of emotions. Music used for Lyrical dance is usually emotionally charged and expressive and gives dancers a chance to express a range of strong emotions through their dancing. Their movements attempt to tell a story through movement. Movements in lyrical are fluid, continuous, and graceful, with the dancer flowing seamlessly from one move to another with little or no stopping, holding finishing steps as long as possible. These emotional dance moves help the dancer connect on an emotional level with the audience.

Jazz

Jazz will focus on elements of weight, rhythm, and sharp movement qualities. Jazz dance introduces a stylistic dance vocabulary for a fun, expressive way of dancing. Basic jazz dance technique will be introduced in this class. This dance style is known for its upbeat music and choreography style. This class is an excellent experience for the student who is interested in further strengthening their dance technique. The students will learn a variety of jumps and turns as well as innovative choreography in this athletic class. The class consists of warm up and conditioning exercises to increase flexibility and strength. Class time will be devoted to learning jazz technique as well as funky jazz dance combinations.

Tap

Dancers will gain an understanding of rhythms, tempo and counting as well as an understanding of note values in different time signatures. Musicality is stressed while teaching the student to count their sounds between the beats to create more complex rhythms. Dancers are taught to add sounds to the basic tap steps. Tap is about making music and understanding it. Exposing students to tap is an important component of becoming a well rounded percussive dancer.

Ballet

This class is designed to develop awareness of body alignment, basic ballet vocabulary and technique through the execution of barre work, center, and across the floor exercises. This class is designed to increase performance quality and confidence. With quality and knowledgeable teaching, and an encouraging environment, these classes will be a perfect fit for those who aspire to improve their dancing!
