Classes

Private Lessons

These lessons can focus on any style – ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and lyrical.

Hip-Hop (9+ years)

In this class, dance knowledge is further increased as students are learning a new style. Technique, artistry, story-telling, rhythm, flexibility and balance are key focuses.

Ballet/Lyrical/Tap (9+ years)

Through ballet and lyrical styles, students have a higher focus on technique, artistry, story-telling and choreography. When focusing on tap, students work on advanced sounds, counting and rhythm.

Jazz/Hip-Hop (5-8 year olds)

In this class, dancers implement basic jazz technique and learn floor skills to create awesome routines. Body awareness, partner work, balance and flexibility are also main focuses.

Ballet/Tap (5-8 year olds)

Our ballet/tap classes are offered separately for athletes age 3-4 and 5-8. In these classes, instructors work to expand their students' current dance knowledge. Flexibility is a key skill worked on with the 3-4 year olds while balance and overall athleticism is the main focus of the 5-8 year old class.

Introductory Ballet and Tap

This class is serves as an introduction to dance where preliminary ballet and tap skills are taught. As our youngest athletes, these children learn how to follow directions, to stand patiently in line and work on counting, shape identification and balance. Athletes in this class also have the opportunity to participate in a recital hosted by J&J!

Charmers

Our competitive team, Charmers, was established in 2011. Athletes who have participated in this program have performed in competitions across the nation from Vegas to Orlando to St. Louis and Pigeon Forge. We currently offer recreational classes at two locations where we instruct athletes in all styles of dance. Our competitive team, Charmers, was established in 2011. Athletes who have participated in this program have performed in competitions across the nation from Vegas to Orlando to St. Louis and Pigeon Forge.

HOT SHOTS

J&J's Hot Shots team is for our youngest athletes who show promise of making great team members someday. These students are especially good listeners and advance more quickly than others their age. The concept of competition is introduced in this class at practices which occur once a week.

PRE-TEAM

Athletes on J&J's pre-team attend at least two competitions a year and train twice a week. Students in this class learn technique and gain the physical strength needed to join the official team. Promotion to the team class requires athletes to be able to do a roundoff backhand spring.

COMPETITION TEAM

Athletes on J&J's competitive tumbling and trampoline team have competed nationally and internationally since 1977. Throughout our history, we have had team members win innumerable state, regional and national titles as well as compete in the World Championships and Olympic Trials.

SHOOTING STAR

In the Shooting Star class, athletes will begin performing series of back handsprings. On trampoline, they will begin learning backward flipping skills as well as front twisting flips. Athletes will continue advancing at an appropriate progression up to skills performed at USAG Level 10 in both tumbling and trampoline.

SUPERSTAR

As Superstars, our athletes learn power hurdle round-offs and work toward performing backhand springs independently. On trampoline, front flipping skills, back pull-overs, and important skill combinations are learned.

ALLSTAR 1&2

While classes are structured around the child's ability, students will begin perfecting cartwheels and learning handstand tuck & rolls, round-offs, backbends, and front walk-overs. Trampoline skills include the basics (tuck, pike and straddle jumps) as well as front drops and back drops. Possible skills include backhand springs and front tucks.

SPARKLER

Tumbling skills learned during Sparkler classes include forward and backward rolls, handstands, beginner backbends and cartwheels. Trampoline skills include tuck, pike and straddle jumps as well as beginner half-turns, front drops, and backdrops.

STARBABY

Starbaby classes focus on developing large motor skills. Children will learn skills such as forward rolls and beginner trampoline skills, as well as practice hopping and balancing. Colors, counting and sharing are also practiced.
