Our thoughtfully designed training adapts to each child's age, experience, and maturity, emphasizing form and technique to develop body awareness, agility, rhythm, and improvisational skills. We offer a diverse range of dance genres including Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary/Modern, Hip Hop, Irish Step, and Acrobatic dance. This year, we are excited to introduce new Pom classes for grades 8-12 and Theater classes for grades 5-12, the latter blending dance styles from musicals with acting and character development to build stage presence and confidence. Sharon Lux School of Dance is committed to showcasing student progress and providing enriching performance opportunities. Students can aspire to be featured in local media and shine during our annual May recital, which includes multiple performances. For advanced dancers, we offer audition-based competition teams in Acro, Hip Hop, and Modern. We prioritize a safe and supportive environment, encouraging open communication regarding any physical limitations to ensure full and safe participation. Classes

THEATER

Theater dance will focus on a fusion of different styles of dance based on different musicals. The class will not only involve dancing but will also including ACTING and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. It is designed to help dancers with their stage presence, confidence, and expressions. Theater class will help dancers grow across ALL styles of dance!

POM CLASS

Pom dance is a high energy, visual and dynamic form of dance including elements of Jazz, Hip Hop, and Cheerleading. With the use of Pom Poms dancers will learn sharp, precise movements and synchronized formations. They will be a heavy focus on leaps, turns, and kicks along with pom technique to help prepare dancers interested in auditioning for college dance teams !

Acro

Acrobatic uses strength and flexibility to perform gymnastic-based tricks. In this class, students perform conditioning exercises to prepare them for increased difficulty. It teaches flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination while incorporating dance choreography and expression. New in 2025/2026 ACRO COMP. More details coming soon.

Irish

A traditional style of Irish dancing, it is generally characterized by a stiff upper body and the quick and precise movements of the feet. Irish step dances fall into two broad categories based on the shoes worn: hard shoe and soft shoe dances. At this time we focus on soft shoe only bringing a mix of traditional Irish dance and a fun new twist on this style.

Hip Hop

Hip hop dance is a high-energy, street-style dance that originated in the 1970s alongside hip hop music and culture. Known for its freestyle movements, sharp isolations, and rhythmic grooves, hip hop dance encourages creativity, self-expression, and confidence. From breaking and popping to more modern commercial styles, hip hop is fun, dynamic, and accessible for all ages and skill levels. Whether you're just starting out or looking to level up, our hip hop classes offer an exciting way to move, learn, and connect with the beat. We also offer an audition based competition team MAX CAPACITY. Open to grades 6th to 12th.

Contemporary/Modern

Dance that combines Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Modern in an expression of free movement. Various types of music are used including classical and New Age. Modern Dance allows you to break away from rigidity of classical and express using a freer style. We also offer an audition based Modern Comp Team open to grades 8th-12th.

Tap

Classes are offered utilizing a graded system consisting of center and flow exercises. Classes emphasize speed, clarity of sound, rhythm, and training in combinations and routines.

Jazz

This type of dance motivates a child’s natural rhythm ability. We combine many styles and techniques from traditional and contemporary dance to ballet.

Lyrical

Combines styles and techniques from Jazz and Contemporary Dance to Ballet. This type of dance develops body awareness, rhythm and improvisational skills. Types of music used, range from classical to contemporary music of today.

Ballet

A complete graded system offering ballet techniques in the Cechetti method. All the elements of barre, center, adagio, and allegro are given in each class, which will enhance coordination, muscle development, poise, and grace.

Combo

The children are placed according to age, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and high school.

Four year combo

Classes are designed to enhance the creative ability, coordination, and musicality in the child. Classes are one hour long and used as their introduction to ballet, jazz, creative movement, tumbling, and tap classes later. We also teach children direction and self confidence.

Beginner Combo

Classes are designed to enhance the creative ability, coordination, and musicality in the child who is three years old. Classes are forty-five minutes and are used as their introduction to ballet, jazz, creative movement, tumbling, and tap classes later. We also teach children direction and self confidence.
