About Sherry's Dance Center

The diverse curriculum caters to students from toddlers as young as two up to advanced levels, offering foundational styles like Ballet, Jazz, and Tap, alongside popular genres such as Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Musical Theater. The center also features specialized classes in Acrobatics, blending dance with precision acrobatic elements. Sherry's Dance Center boasts a highly experienced faculty, including Sherry Dennison, Mary Buettner, April Camp, Mary Jo Crews, Angel Crissman, Cameron Gregg, Jessica Moser, Kiera Richardson, and Kellie Smith, each dedicated to providing expert instruction. Younger students (ages 2-4) receive a fun introduction to dance basics, while older students benefit from in-depth training. The Classical Ballet program adheres to the Cecchetti Method, with pointe classes available for qualified individuals. Students also have opportunities to join the elite SDC Company, a competitive performance group that hones skills and achieves accolades at local and national events. Classes

Drop Ins

SDC offers a single class fee to visiting students. Payment and paperwork must be completed at the office before the student enters the classroom. Fees are only rolled over towards registration — if the visiting student registers the same day of the trial class. If not registering the same day of trial class, fee will not be credited towards future registration. Single Class fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Returning Sherry's Dance Center students visiting from college — ask for discount rates.

Private Classes

All private classes must be approved by the director. Space is limited. Fees are due monthly or by the installment plan. Fees are due regardless of class attendance or holiday schedules. Late fee policy applies. Private class may be terminated, if payment becomes delinquent or not paid according to payment schedule.

SDC Company

SDC Company is an elite group of dancers. These dancers are selected by the director and are required to spend at least four or more hours per week in classes and rehearsals depending on the company level. Members of the SDC Company excel in different subjects; therefore, schedules may differ. Summer classes and the SDC Boot Camp are required for all Company Members and prospective Company Members. Director will evaluate all members for proper level placement during the summer session. * If applying after summer evaluations have been completed, a private audition and interview may be scheduled, however, the Director may recommend training for the upcoming season at SDC and waiting for the next summer evaluation. * If interested in more information regarding the SDC Company, please email the studio or stop by the office to inquire.

Tap

Our tap program allows students to learn the fundamentals of tap by working rhythms and coordination exercises. Class consists of warm ups, center floor exercises and progressions, eventually forming a routine.

Musical Theatre

Class consists of exercises displaying movement and character portrayal in which dancing play an essential part, along with acting and lip syncing.

Lyrical & Contemporary

Contemporary styles are taught to show extension and balance, as well as showing an interpretation of the music. Class consists of warm ups, isolations, balancing and strengthening exercises and progressions, eventually forming a routine. Ballet is required for Lyrical levels I, II, & III and Contemporary.

Jazz

Styles from Broadway – LA are taught bringing the students a variety of techniques in jazz. Class consists of warm ups, isolations, balancing and strengthening exercises and progressions, eventually forming a routine. Ballet is required for advanced level jazz classes.

Hip Hop

This class comprises a blend of today's high energy street movements, typically performed to popular hip hop music. Class consists of warm ups, isolations and progressions eventually forming a routine.

Classical Ballet

Ballet provides the foundation for all styles of dance and helps develop grace, discipline, confidence and proper body alignment. Class consists of barre work, center floor, including adagio, allegro and progressions. Our ballet program follows the Cecchetti Method. Pointe classes are offered for qualified students. (Recommendation from instructor).

Acro

Students will learn the fundamentals in acrobatics, combining the classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Training includes a warmup to target the different muscles and ligaments in the body, that will be used during exercises to gain better flexibility, balance, motor coordination, as well as, strengthening and agility skills, all taught with proper technique and safety in mind. Acro is more seamlessly integrating these acrobatic movements into dance choreography, enhancing the artistic expression of the dance.

Toddlers

Students will receive a fun introduction to the basics of dance. A combination class of tap and ballet steps are taught to develop motor skills and muscle coordination. This program provides a head start and solid foundation for future success in all styles of dance.
