It’s the perfect class for performers who love to entertain and want to build stage presence, confidence, and versatility. All levels welcome—just bring your personality and passion for performance!

PRE-POINTE

a class that focuses on building strength and flexibility in the feet and ankles in preparation for Pointe work.

POINTE

a dance performed on the tip of the toes using special shoes that are fitted to each individual dancer. It is an extension of ballet technique where steps move from being performed on demi-pointe to being performed on Pointe as the dancer’s technique advances. Dancers must be at least 13 years old and have solid technique, proper body alignment and strength in the feet and ankles. Dancers need teacher approval before going on Pointe. PrePointe is highly recommended as a prerequisite for this class.

CONTEMPORARY

a form of dance that can be expressive like lyrical but focuses more on moving to the rhythms of the music instead of the lyrics. The use of parallel and flexed feet also sets it apart from the lyrical style. Contemporary uses concepts from modern dance that emphasizes use of the torso, contractions, suspension, and using the body to create shapes. The variation of tempo using both soft and sharp movements is used to create dynamics within the style.

LYRICAL

a style of dance that uses music with lyrics and draws from both ballet and jazz dance techniques. Dancers take inspiration from the music to tell a story through movement while expressing strong emotions.

HIP HOP

a fusion dance genre that pulls from the body isolations of jazz and incorporates elements of popping, locking and breaking. It originated as informal street dance combining a variety of freestyle movements and has evolved into a style of dance used for stage performance. The music used is upbeat and the focus is on mastering the rhythm and style.

JAZZ

a dance style that takes the technique from classical ballet and gives it a modern twist by adding the use of isolations of the body, the use of parallel, and this style’s own distinctive steps. This form of dance accents musical rhythms with movement. The music used is upbeat, the dances are fun and energetic, and the focus is on adding personality to the movement. Kicks, leaps, turns, and traveling rhythmic combinations are all part of what is learned in class with a focus on flexibility and strength.

TAP

a type of dance characterized by using the sounds of metal taps that are attached to the toe and the heel of the shoe. The dancer’s feet act like instruments as the dancers work on mastering the steps and rhythms of tap technique. In this class, dancers will learn important vocabulary while focusing on musicality and clarity of sounds.

BALLET

a classical dance form originating in the royal courts and academics of France requiring grace, precision and discipline. Ballet is the basis for all dance forms and is recommended for building a strong technical foundation. Dancers will learn ballet terminology and classical positions of the body as well as develop strength, control, flexibility, and proper body alignment. The class begins at the barre with a progression of exercises and moves to the center to expand the dancer’s skill and memory. A combination of ballet styles are taught, beginning with Cecchetti body positions and later including Vaganova.

PRESCHOOL BALLET/TAP COMBO

a class that introduces the young dancer to the basic movements of ballet and tap. The emphasis is on enjoying and exploring the movement of dance, but classes are also structured to work on the development of motor skills, flexibility and following directions. Dancers in this class will be performing a dance in tap shoes for the end of the year recital.

DANCELY

a preschool dance class for little ones that introduces a variety of fun dance styles, with moving and shaking that will have them grinning ear to ear the entire time. Dancely features original choreography from expert preschool dance teachers, who know exactly the moves that make kids jump for joy with delight and excitement. Featuring original music that little ones love from the award winning songwriters at Disney, Netflix and Marvel!
