We offer a comprehensive and diverse curriculum encompassing a wide range of genuine dance styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Acrobatics, Aerial, Musical Theater, and Flamenco. Our programs cater to various levels, from Pre-Dance for our youngest enthusiasts to advanced classes requiring prior experience, with a strong emphasis on foundational technique and artistic expression. Our esteemed instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and professional experience, with many holding degrees in dance or equivalent backgrounds in therapeutic practices, performance art, dance composition, anatomy, somatics, and dance pedagogy. Key instructors include Owner/Artistic Director Sydnee Reese, who brings extensive R.A.D. and I.S.T.D. examination experience and training from institutions like the Dance Theatre of Harlem and Mark Morris Dance Group. Other dedicated faculty include Colleen Breen, Lilly Hetz (specializing in Aerial and Acro), Niki Hitzemann (Acrobatics), Ellie Lewis, Nora Rook, LeeAnn Melchor, Caitlin Hopkins, Baylee McAllister, Renée Austin (Hip Hop), Abi Telander (Jazz and competition choreography), Jocelyn Evans, Rachel Rysanek (Tap), Jackie Gray, and Madi Maetten. Imagine Dance Project is proud to be home to an award-winning competitive performance company selected through annual auditions, offering advanced dancers opportunities to showcase their talents in the Saint Louis area. We also offer specialized clinics, bootcamps, and intensive one-on-one training for those looking to enhance specific skills. Our summer programs have featured exciting themed camps, such as Toy Story and KPOP Demon Hunters, alongside dedicated Hip Hop and Aerial Silks clinics, providing a well-rounded and engaging experience. Our mission is to build a platform for each student to discover their potential and develop as a free-thinking artist in a supportive environment.

Classes

Aerial

This class will focus on body awareness, core strengthening, flexibility, and control through the use of aerial apparatuses, such as aerial silks, aerial hammocks, and modern techniques. These full body workouts are designed to increase range of motion and strengthen dance technique in an exciting and rewarding environment.Ages 7 +

Leaps & Turns

This class will focus on basic ballet/jazz/pom technique. The class will incorporate leaps, turns, beginning/intermediate ballet, and jazz across the floor and center combinations. These classes are ideal for dancers wanting to try out for their school dance teams or dancers who want to take recreational classes. Ages 10+

Pre Pointe

This class is geared toward dancers working toward dancing en pointe. This class will work on strengthening the muscles required to dance en pointe, working on the flexibility of the feet and ankles, the history of pointe and ballet vocabulary, and how to prep/sew/tie pointe shoes. The dancers already en pointe will work on beginning to intermediate pointe work at the barre and in the center.

Conditioning

This class will focus on core strengthening, flexibility, and entire body workouts designed to increase range of motion and strengthen dance technique. The class is influenced by Progressing Ballet Technique using thera bands, yoga balls, ballet barres, and weights.

Acro 1-5

Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills. This class is geared toward increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique and tumbling, teaching skills such as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks, aerial cartwheels, handsprings, etc, all catered to each student's individual level of experience.

Hip Hop 1-5

Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Our classes will utilize current, trendy, and clean music!

Modern 1-5

This class will be based off of classic Horton, Graham, and Release modern techniques. The students will have a historical and physical understanding of modern dance. They will be strengthened through breath, contractions, balance, core and spinal stability, alignment, and flexibility in addition to learning complex fortifications and studies.

Contemporary 2-5

Contemporary will include aspects of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. This class will include the elements of time, space, energy, emotional content, and artistic exploration through complex exercises and combinations, improvisation, and choreography.

Jazz Intro Level & 1-5

Jazz classes will combine the techniques of classical jazz, ballet, and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance emphasizing the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, style, the execution of classic jazz technique, leaps, turns, and differentiation of movement quality and dynamics.

Tap 1-5

Focusing on rhythm, timing, percussion, and precision, tap classes will be a progression of classical and rhythmic tap steps and combinations that will transform the dancer into a percussive musician while teaching the dancer to pick up steps with speed and rhythmic integrity.

Pointe 3-5

Advanced dancers will have a pointe class following ballet class. This class will focus on strengthening the feet and legs to carry out precise and proper ballet steps, while having the apparatus of a pointe shoe. (students may purchase and train in pointe shoes at the instructor’s discretion).

Ballet 1-5

We will teach classical ballet classes based on precise, conventional steps with gestures and movements of grace and fluidity. Formal ballet class structure focuses on barre work for balance, coordination, and flexibility through the strengthening of the body core and muscular structures required to execute ballet movement accurately with correct alignment. Center work will focus on the positions of the arms, legs, and feet using the technique practiced at the barre, classical ballet terminology, with an understanding of musicality and gestural expression.

Intro to dance

This is a combination class geared toward 5 and 7 year old students incorporating ballet and tap technique and terminology. This class will prepare students for more advanced technique classes in years to come.

PreDance

The combo class will be offered for ages 3 through 5. The class will focus on the structure of a beginning ballet class, technique, and terminology, free and creative movement, and beginning tap.

Drop in class

Drop in class rate is $20 per class.

Company Rehearsals
$15.00

Imagine Dance Project Competition Team group rehearsals will be $15.00 per routine per month. Solo rehearsals will be the same fee as a private lesson.

Private Lessons
$45.00

Private lessons will be available at the rate of $45 per half hour, and $70 per hour. These fees are to be paid directly to the instructor at the time of the lesson. They may be paid in either cash or check. Please schedule private lessons at the front desk. Cancellations need to be made 24 hours in advance. Last minute cancellations will be charged the private lesson fee.
