NC Academy of Dance Arts

Tap/Jazz/Hip-Hop classes are offered for our younger students ages 4-8 years that are interested in exploring the different styles of dance. These unique combination classes emphasize musicality, body alignment, rhythm, stretch, and stylization using fun and innovative choreography set to kid-friendly music. Our tap/jazz/hip-hop combination class works on connecting steps, skills, and sounds to upbeat music.

Tap classes from beginning to advanced are taught by skillful instructors whose love for tap is heard in their every move. Our energetic and exciting classes focus on mind-to-foot connections and unique rhythm offering various styles and combinations.

Musical Theatre offers Broadway-style choreography, show stopping stage techniques, learning how to act and perform with confidence and more. Our musical theatre classes are not just for the aspiring dancer but also for all up and coming stars. Focusing on song-and-dane numbers using a variety of show favorites, past and present.

Lyrical is a fusion between ballet and jazz that challenges dancers to use choreography and movement to interpret music and express emotion derived by lyrics and feeling. The fluid, yet dramatic movements taught in this class make it a favorite amongst our pre-teen to young adult students.

Jazz is a very distinct style of dance that is constantly growing and evolving. From beginning to advanced levels, our classes focus on the fundamentals such as isolations, developing complex rhythms and movements, and more. From Fosse to contemporary styles, we include proper warm-ups, stretching, across-the-floor progressions, and intricate upbeat combinations. As students progress, classes become increasingly more detailed and complex.

Hip-Hop incorporates a variety of old and new urban dance styles. Our high-energy, performance quality classes are packed full of dynamic choreography, isolations, stamina, and fun. We seasonally bring in professional hip-hop dancers and choreographers from LA and NY to expose our students to the most up to date moves and styles.

Dance Fusion is a class for adults. It combines jazz, lyrical, Musical Theatre, hip hop, world dance and Ballroom for adults looking to continue their craft or try something new.

Contemporary dance combines ballet and modern techniques through organic movements using unrestricted lines. Our contemporary classes are an empowering fusion of technique, strength, musicality, acro, self-expression, and emotion.

Toddlers & Toes begins at 20 month-3 years of age and offers our youngest dancers an opportunity to explore movement and music accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Beginning Ballet introduces basic Ballet vocabulary and technique to our students ages 5-6 years in a fun and enjoyable setting. Emphasis is placed on coordination, musicality, rhythm, and concentration while exploring space and enjoying movement.

Pre-Ballet offers young dancers ages 3-4 years an opportunity to explore movement and learn about the wonderful world of dance. Our skilled and creative instructors use games, stories, and songs to teach balance, rhythm, movement, coordination, and basic ballet steps.

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms. using precise movements, this technique provides the grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other dance forms. From beginning to advanced levels, our ballet classes focus on posture, flexibility, natural turnout, fitness, balance, and self-confidence. The unique structure of our ballet classes helps mold our young ballerinas into role models.

Acro-Fusion combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Strong emphasis is placed on proper technique of acrobatic basics and fundamentals. Classes will work on coordination, flexibility, confidence and strength building and more.
