Classes

Private Lessons

Specially designed for each individual student’s need for rigorous and focus based training, individual classes emphasize technique, repertoire, musicality, artistry and personal development.

Adult

This traditional ballet class, open to adults of all ages and skill levels, offers an overview of classical ballet technique while emphasizing self-expression, posture and grace. Students experience the demands of classical ballet in a fun and enjoyable environment!

Advanced

Advanced Ballet students receive rigorous training and have the opportunity to performing Principal and Soloist roles in OIBA’s annual performance, including original creation and choreography workshops with OIBA choreographers. Designed to facilitate the transition from student to pre-professional dancer, this class integrates students in the professional dance world.

Level 5

Level 5 students refine, strengthen, and reinforce all aspects of their training in this level. Teachers focus on the refinement of pointe work and the ability to learn and perform repertoire.

Level 4

Level 4 students concentrate on the development of strength, stability, balance, aplomb, and elevation. More complicated adagio and allegro combinations are introduced.

Level 3

Level 3 focuses on further developing and refining ballet studies. Incorporating the head, arms, torso, and legs increases coordination and strength. Teachers emphasize technical execution of exercises as well as a development of musicality and artistry. Female students are introduced to pointe work.

Level 2

Continuing with the materials learned in Level 1, Level 2 furthers strength, speed, and the number of steps executed, adding to each student’s basic training. Focused on strengthening the legs, feet, and upper body, this level completes a full ballet barre. In the center, this class learns pirouettes (turns), adagio (controlled movements), allegro (jumps), and preparation for pointe work.

Level 1

Level I is where classical ballet curriculum begins. Teachers guide the repetition of exercises to create a solid base for all future study. Correct placement, advancing coordination, strengthening of the lower body, and discipline are emphasized. Classes consist of barre, center, and jumping exercises.

Beginning Ballet

Beginning Ballet introduces the fundamentals required for classical ballet training. Classes focus on floor work, stretching, coordination, and musicality.

Pre-Ballet

Pre-Ballet classes introduce our youngest students to basic ballet language and concepts while cultivating familiarity with and appreciation for dance and music.

Pre-Ballet with Parent

This class brings parents into the studio to experience the joy and structure of ballet alongside their child. All children ages 3-4 are eligible, with one parent per child. This class encourages child-parent bonding, further engages our youngest dancers, and introduces new concepts and healthy techniques to parents. No need for any prior dance experience!
