This class is required for VBT Company Members. Additional pointe classes are strongly recommended.

Pre-Professional Ballet Division (Ages 13 - 18)
For the serious dancer. In this division the dancer continues to build strength in movement, musicality and overall technique through more difficult ballet combinations and en pointe. Dancers in this division are required to attend multiple classes per week to better advance their training, maintain proper technique and to understand the commitment necessary to achieve their goals and aspirations of dancing at a higher level.
Contemporary Jazz IV (Recommended)
Contemporary Jazz styles are informed by the dance experience of the choreographer. The goal of the student is to study and master the movement style of their instructor. Kate's class is a blend of Jazz and Modern techniques including Release and Improvisational styles of Modern Dance.
Lyrical (Level IV) (Recommended)
Dancers will expand on their knowledge and skill of jazz dance through more challenging choreography. Dancers will learn new steps and technique to varying styles of music and rhythm changes. An eclectic style of dance, from street jazz to swing, will challenge dancers throughout this class.

Dancers will learn the basic and fundamental steps, turns, and leaps to introduce them to this classic jazz genre. Through floor exercises and choreography, dancers will develop the confidence and skill to become well-rounded dancers and performers.

Three technique classes per week are required. In addition, one pointe class a week is required for all who have achieved pointe shoes. In this level, the emphasis will be on executing combinations on demi-pointe during barre and center work.

Jazz
Part of the full-day summer program for serious students ages 8 to 21, providing complete summer dance instruction. Classes are held five days a week and include ballet and pointe technique, variations, jazz, modern, character, choreography, Pilates, mime, acting, and seminars in stage make-up, nutrition, and physical therapy. This program provides approximately 180 hours of study with an educated and professional faculty. At the end of the 5-week session, potential new members for the Vermont Ballet Theater and Vermont Youth Ballet will be selected, minimum 4 weeks required.
ADVANCED BALLET (Ballet VII - Advanced A)
Advanced ballet classes for ages 13 and up. Offered as one class per week for a 4-week session in August. Available on Tuesday and Thursday.

This is a 4-week August Session of Primary Ballet to Pre-Professional Ballet classes held at the Essex Campus only. Classes are for ages 7 and up and run from August 4th through August 28th. Registration is required and there is no fee. Female ballet attire is leotard, tights, ballet slippers; hair is secured in a bun or French twist. Male ballet attire is tights, ballet slippers and T-Shirt.

Sapphire & Diamond WORKSHOP - SATURDAY SERIES
The Sapphire and Diamond Workshop Series is for current members of Team Sapphire and Team Diamond. These Saturday classes are designed to offer dancers an opportunity to work with new teachers and choreographers as well as participate in student choreography. At these master classes and rehearsals, the teams will explore new styles and begin to develop their routines for the competition season. Two out of the three Saturdays are required for all Sapphire and Diamond members.

At the end of the 5-week session, potential new members for the Vermont Ballet Theater and Vermont Youth Ballet will be selected, minimum 4 weeks required.

This camp is perfect for little dancers with big dreams, as we learn about and take on one of the most iconic classical ballets of all time: Swan Lake! Our day will begin with an age-appropriate ballet class followed by a snack break and dance games in the gazebo and green space. Throughout the week, dancers will also be creating their own costumes pieces, accessories, and set pieces, in preparation for a short-and-sweet in-house performance for families on the last day of camp.
