Competition Dance

Is your dancer ready to take their training to the next level? Consider joining the world of competitive dance!

Dance

Lyra

Lyra, also called Hoop, is a steel ring hung vertically. In this class you will learn poses and moves on the hoop. As you become more advanced, you will learn to spin the apparatus as you execute skills and poses.

Aerial Silks

Aerial Silks uses two lengths of fabric, secured from the top of the silks apparatus, and involves defying gravity and using your strength to climb and manoeuvre the silks. Under careful instruction, you’ll learn how to wrap the silks around your body to reach cool poses that will really improve your flexibility. And as you improve with experience, you could be tumbling down the length of the silks and performing jaw-dropping spins.

VOCAL

Elevate your childs performance skills in our vocal program where they will grow both in technique and confidence. Students will learn basic skills such as breathing techniques, posture, tone, rhythm, pitch and more.

SILKS/LYRA

Silks, are one long piece of fabric attached in the middle to the ceiling to create two long tails. In this class you will learn to climb, invert in the air, and hang upside down. As you increase strength and comfort-level, you will learn sequences, drops, slides, and flips that allow you to descend the fabric with style and grace. Lyra, also called Hoop, is a steel ring hung vertically. In this class you will learn poses and moves on the hoop. As you become more advanced, you will learn to spin the apparatus as you execute skills and poses.

GYMNASTICS

In our beginninger gymnastics classes, students will learn drills and skills in all areas of gymnastics including: Vault, Bars, Floor, Beam and Tumble Trak.

CHEER AND TUMBLE

In our cheer and tumbling classes, students will work on perfecting their skills through a series of progressive drills. The skills learned include those needed for competitive cheer such as back handsprings and tucks.

TINY TOTS

In our tiny tots classes, your littlest dancer will be able to express themselves by learning to feel the rhythm of music and how that correlates to the movement of the body. They will explore dance with a variety of props to encourage creativity. In thy gymnastics portion, they will utilize equipment the work on basic drills and skills such as forward rolls, cartwheels, and more.

TAP

Tap is a percussive dance style where students develop coordination and rhythm. Dancers wear shoes with metal plates on the bottom to create intricate rhythms with the feet. Upper body movement is coordinated with these rhythms thereby creating a visual and musical experience.

POMS

Poms consists of precise movements, impressive kick lines, and intricate group formations. Dancers in this class will learn skills such as splits, kicks and a variety of jumps. Not to be confused with cheerleading, poms is set to music and does not involve vocal cheering.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theater explores a variety of dance styles while incorporating songs, and acting. Often using show tunes from Broadway, the story and emotional content of a musical are communicated through the words, music, and movement.

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY

Lyrical is a fusion of jazz and ballet. In lyrical, choreographers and dancers use motion to interpret music and express emotion, telling a story with movement. A ballet based technique is often preferred for this style of dance. Lyrical dancers use grace and fluidity to flow seamlessly from one movement to another. Contemporary is an expressive style of dance that pulls elements from modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. These dancers connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements. Focusing on floor work, versatility, and improvisation allows their bodies to freely express their feelings.

JAZZ/HEELS

Jazz tends to blend the strength and control of ballet with the creativity and expression of modern. This style often uses syncopated rhythms and angular movements with a strong technique base. Leaps and turns are typically at the forefront of jazz choreography.

HIP-HOP

Hip Hop uses high energy movements that have elements of popping, locking, and breaking. These freestyle movements allow students the opportunity to express their own sense of style. Hip Hop is the latest form of expression in today’s culture. It is diverse and ever changing.

BALLET

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Students are taught proper body placement, body alignment, barre and center floor work, along with across the floor combinations.

ACRO

Acrobatics used in dance uniquely combines controlled contortions with strength, flexibility, and balance. Tumbling skills such as aerials, front and back walk overs, handsprings and more, help improve dancers’ confidence. Acro adds versatility and creativity to both the dancers and their routines.
