About Paso Robles Youth Arts Center

The Dance Department is led by experienced instructors, including Amanda Gonzalez, who brings extensive training from institutions like the Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Academy East, and Steps on Broadway. Kristina Hayes, a seasoned performer and instructor, specializes in social ballroom dance through her program, Waltz Through Life. Classes

URBAN DANCE II

Our Intermediate classes are typically instructor-invite-only. However, if you have previous dance experience at a high level please contact us to see if this class would be a good fit for you! “We will be working on some new choreography, reconnecting, laughing, being silly, and making some rad dances! HIP HOP II

Learning many styles of hip hop choreography with many styles of music. The objective is to challenge yourselves to learn these moves in a short amount of time to be performance-ready.

Beginning Hip Hop B

This class is an introduction to hip hop for older students. Students will learn basic rhythm, coordination, and basic footwork while learning how to dance to the beat of the music. Students will learn to memorize choreography by working on combinations in each class. Activities will include stretching, across the floors, simple warm-up dances, choreography, free dance, and games. The goal is for each student to feel comfortable dancing in a group setting, to gain self-confidence, and to learn how to work together as a team. This is an upbeat and high-energy class so bring your funk!

Beginning Hip Hop A

This class is an introduction to hip hop. The student will learn basic rhythm, coordination, and basic footwork while learning how to dance to the beat of the music. Students will learn to memorize choreography by working on combinations in each class. CONTEMPORARY DANCE II

Our Intermediate classes are typically instructor-invite-only. However, if you have previous dance experience please contact us to see if this class would be a good fit for you! Formerly known as “Open Level Contemporary Dance”, this is an accelerated class for committed students. More difficult techniques will be introduced with an emphasis on the importance of strength, flexibility, rhythm, musicality, memorization, and most importantly, performance.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE I

Though this is an open-level class, some previous dance experience is helpful and to some degree, expected. This is a beginner-level contemporary dance class. Techniques will be introduced with an emphasis on the importance of strength, flexibility, rhythm, musicality, memorization, and performance.

BALLET & JAZZ I

This is an introductory Ballet & Jazz combo class for older students. From fun and energetic movement of the jazz style to classical ballet techniques paired with warm-ups, stretching, strengthening, turns, leaps, jumps, and runs–this class has it all!

Beginning Ballet

This class will cover the fundamentals of classical ballet technique through learning, ballet positions, posture, and vocabulary. All that is required is a love of movement. Students need to either wear socks or ballet slippers, stretchy pants or leotard and tights, comfortable appropriate top and their hair pulled back out of their face.
