Open Practice

For seasoned students and teachers who want to gather in a collaborative, supportive space to go deeper into practice. Together we will work on groups of asanas, ask questions, share reflections and resources, help assist one another, and get feedback from fellow practitioners and teachers.

Private Instruction & Special Needs

For students who need individual attention or who would like to learn to apply yoga to help aid in recovery from a medical condition. During the course of a private you will have the opportunity to speak in depth about your condition, ask questions, and together we will develop a sequence that you can practice at home. Sessions are 1 hour long although the first meeting can sometimes be longer. Continuing sessions may be recommended.

Prenatal

The Iyengar approach to yoga for pregnancy is a safe, effective, and empowering experience for women in any stage of pregnancy. Gain strength, confidence, awareness, and freedom in your practice and in your body as you prepare for the challenges and joys of childbirth and parenthood. Learn more about our Prenatal classes.

Gentle/Therapeutic

For students who want a more gentle practice or who need individual attention to work with a medical condition or injury.

Level III

For students with substantial Iyengar Yoga training who are strong in standing postures, can do Sirsasana with confidence for five minutes, and can push up into Urdhva Dhanurasana. Sirsasana variations, intermediate postures, and seated pranayama are taught. Independent practice should be well established. Students should have a basic understanding of modifications suitable for individual injuries and conditions including proper practice for menstruation.

Level II

For students with some experience in Iyengar yoga (one year recommended). Classes will include Adho Mukha Vrksasana (full arm balance) and Sirsasana (headstand). Students must regularly practice Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) and have a basic understanding of Level I postures. Students must have a basic familiarity with the props. Special needs can be accommodated.

Level I

For beginners with little or no yoga experience in the Iyengar method. Classes focus on the basic groups of postures including standing poses, forward bends, backbends, inversions and restorative yoga. Use of props will be taught. Special needs can be accommodated.

Community Yoga

Kara will lead a fun and playful community practice geared towards all ages, and made accessible and safe for all. Following the class, stay for an Ayurvedic meal and lesson with Allison, supporting nourishment and balance in the winter season. Bring a side dish or dessert to share! After our meal, we will gather for solstice singing and chanting. Feel free to bring an instrument, chant, or song to share with the group.

Teen and Tween Yoga

This 4-week series, designed especially for tweens and teens, will introduce yoga in a safe, fun, and explorative way. We will learn how the different asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath work) create stability and quietness, balancing our bodies, minds and emotions. We will gain steadiness through our standing and balance work, quietness from our forward bends and restorative poses, and enjoy the uplifting and stimulating effect of backbends. Nina's teaching style is dynamic and enthusiastic and she is welcoming and encouraging to students of all abilities and experience.

Pelvic Floor and Postpartum Yoga: Part 1

Join CIYT Rebecca Weisman and MPT Meagen Satinsky for a 2-part course exploring the pelvic floor and gaining awareness, strength, relaxation and healing through the techniques of Iyengar Yoga. The pelvic floor is an important but not well understood part of our anatomy. Through yoga asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and sensory anatomical exercises we will dive deep into the anatomy, physiology, and movements of this area that supports the root of our being.
